  1. Footage from the scoring sessions for Zootopia. The action cue starting at 1:13 is classic Giacchino and I love it! Can't wait to hear this score.
  2. Sadly, the movie's status as the 2nd biggest financial bomb of 2015 (after Fantastic Four) makes the chances for a deluxe edition release pretty remote I'd guess? At least any time soon. I personally was really into the movie riiiight up until when the heroes actually get to Tomorrowland. The last quarter of the movie was such a mess and, to me, very troubling thematically (in the literary sense, not musical themes), but the music was always fantastic!
  3. This is my favorite soundtrack of 2015 after The Force Awakens. I've listened to it upwards of 20 times and I still love every second of it. I'm pretty new to the forums and I've noticed that there are many vocal Giacchino detractors around here, but his 2015 scores are actually what's finally made me 100% a fan! I think my favorite track outside the obvious, big thematic statements ("Pin-Ultimate Experience", "What an Eiffel", etc.) is "All-House Assault." I thought this action music was superior to his action music for Jurassic World actually. Something about the orchestration of this score I find deeply satisfying. I'm not a music theory expert so I couldn't possibly put it into words.
  4. My most anticipated "major blockbuster" type movie of 2016 for sure. Can't wait! The Paul Greengrass Bourne movies are both outstanding; action classics in my opinion. I do wish they'd been able to think of a good noun to go in a "The Bourne [fill-in-the-blank]" title though.
  5. I'm also quite an admirer of his action cues for Tomorrowland, in addition to the sweeping, fantastical tracks. "The Battle of Bridgeway" in particular is very fun.
  6. For me that was a score that worked incredibly well in the movie and was just a miserable standalone listen.
  7. Giacchino really did have a banner 2015 didn't he? Jupiter and Tomorrowland are two of his best ever, Jurassic World had some great moments (esp. "As the Jurassic World Turns" of course), and say what you will about Inside Out as a standalone listening experience, in context it was beautiful.
  8. I'm very glad to see “Pin-Ultimate Experience” get nominated. One of my favorite tracks from what was my favorite score of 2015 until Force Awakens came out. Tomorrowland yay!
  9. Egg on my face! I googled around and you are correct. For some reason I thought Ottman's great main theme for X2 was Kamen's from the original. This is probably because I haven't actually seen the original in over 10 years. While I was indeed thinking of X2 can I retroactively act like I was thinking of Superman Returns the whole time to save face? He definitely re-used Williams' original there! :-P
  10. More than likely. And we know that John Ottman has NO problem continuing themes from previous movies by different composers, which I think is a good thing personally.
  11. Paul J. Smith's score for the 50s Disney movie is still one of my favorites ever. I would love it if whoever scores Singer's included some references to at least his theme for Captain Nemo.
  12. Agreed. I voted for 'March of the Resistance' because I love its down and dirty, "in the trenches" feel. That's a real war of attrition march.
  13. Thanks! I am particularly fond (read: obsessed with) of this section from about 5:30 to 6:20:
  14. I thought it was an absolutely beautiful moment, musically, narratively, and visually. Captures all the hope and uncertainty of those wonderful first looks between Luke and Rey.
  15. Uh, guys? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxGX1Yl06mA Also, hi!
