Jerry Goldsmith's PAPILLON - NEW Quartet Records Expanded Version
Brundlefly replied to Incanus's topic in General Discussion
Papillon is by far the highlight of the year, so far! Would you recommend to buy it immediately? I'm worried because of those 1000 copies. I mean it's PAPILLON!!! The following of the main program is unreleased: Catching Butterflies (1:23 minutes) The Dream (0:30 minutes) Papillon (1:50 minutes) The Garden (0:51 minutes) Farewell - Part II (0:30 minutes) -
New Jerry Goldsmith Projects in 2017?
Brundlefly replied to Brundlefly's topic in General Discussion
"Under Fire" has got the best treatment it could ever get. The rest has hardly a chance to be expanded. Besides there would still be "Six Degrees of Seperation" which should at least get a version that is not total shit. -
But Monsignor brought him a raspberry nomination. So it must be a bad score.

16.95€ is nothing! Just compare Quartet's and Varese's prices! In Germany you pay 35€ for a 1CD Varese album and 25€ for a 2CD Quartet album! I love you, Quartet records! -

One of the most important scores has just got its definitive treatment - "Papillon"! The only non-varese-scores I can think of that are left to expand would be: - Supergirl - Legend - The Russia House - Mulan - The Mummy - The Last Castle -

AWESOME!!! Only 1000 copies? I have to get this! EDIT: There is even a track-by-track analysis which has become very rare nowadays. -
Let's say child-centered.
-
But the score has one gorgeous track, "The Return". Two of Williams' most disappointing scores belong to two very child-friendly, harmless films, "The Book Thief" and "The BFG". The former suffers from this childishness, because its topic needs severity, but the latter is compatible with that attitude.

Always is no schmaltz? Yet there were three people that got the thread's demand.
-
As I said, I know all JW scores post-Jaws and almost all JG scores post-Chinatown, but I hardly know a tenth of all EM scores.
-
I know it is not easy. Therefore "least prefered".
-
Of course everyone has at least three favorite composers and logically they made at least three enjoyable scores. But what about the scores that you do not really like (or like the least) ALTHOUGH they have been composed by one of your favorite composers? I'd like to know your three LEAST PREFERED scores by your three favorite composers. 1. JOHN WILLIAMS 1. Always 2. The BFG 3. Far and Away 2. JERRY GOLDSMITH 1. Along Came a Spider 2. Congo 3. Runaway 3. ENNIO MORRICONE 1. Mission to Mars 2. U-Turn 3. Face to Face (I don't know enough Morricone titles to say which ones are really his worst.)

Hook yes. But no Far and Away.

What Is The Last Score You Listened To? (older scores)
Brundlefly replied to Ollie's topic in General Discussion
It is really a matter of taste, but of course there are some OSTs that are weirdly compiled (JFK, The Lost World) or lack a certain aspect of the music (Air Force One, The Prisoner of Azkaban), whereas there are some complete scores that tend to be redundant (Powder, Deep Rising) or often interrupt the flow of the music, because of short cues (The 'Burbs, Jurassic Park). However, claiming that one's usual preference is always better, just because, is ignorant. -

"Inchon" by Jerry Goldsmith It is like a mixture of Patton, Ennio Morricone, Hellraiser and the Klingon Theme. Pretty underestimated - do you know it? The music seems to be the only noteworthy thing of the film (IMDb rating: 2,7). -
What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Newer Films)
Brundlefly replied to King Mark's topic in General Discussion
"Silence" is one of the most unbearable movies I've ever seen which is rated 12 in Germany! It's use of absolute silence throughout is such a unique stylistic mean. The redundance ( which was one of the aspects people complaint about) of the torture scenes just intensifies the effect of helplessness and despair. Nevertheless it is so nuanced and not polarizing at all. I was so impressed when the end credits set in and couldn't speak. -

Is it true that Intrada has a very good relationship with Disney? Is it Disney Records or just Disney? So what does it mean, regarding expansions of Mulan or Nixon? -

It would be an achievement to create a list that contains all kinds of movies. "The Lord of the Rings" AND "Pulp Fiction" AND "Nymphomaniac". -

Honestly, the Lord of the Rings films are not just some mainstream films (which I thought before I've seen them as an adult in the extended version), they're also cinematic masterpieces (not using this term inflationarily).
