Yeah, I was referring to the Duo Concertante. I'm sure it was a great performance by your wife. -

I love your signature, Passi. Any chance that it gets broadcast on YLE Klassinen? -

Make sure to bring a microphone device because that'll be the only way to listen to the concerto afterward. -

Dammit. It won't get broadcast as it doesn't take place in saturday. Some fund-rising concert with Williams and Redford instead... -
Unfortunately? It's great news! KUSC has always had a 96kbps stream up until.... 3 days ago, when they've upgraded it to a more decent 128kbps feed.

Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire

I was very impressed with his conducting skills last year in the concert. Accurate and expressive, something I can't say about the stiff style of Broughton. -
Actually it's only good news for us concert works-lovers.

What you wrote isn't news but sheer lurid tabloidism. It's not about being among my favorites or the people's favorites. A new score by John Williams will be always better than nothing.

Actually, it means they're better. Daugherty is the most accessible thing for a film music fan.
-
No movies, they're concert works. Rouse's Friandises was premiered in the Juilliard anniversary, in the same concert in which Williams conducted some other works.
-
The Daugherty, the Rorem and especially the Rouse are great works too. A must buy!

Well, all recordings I've heard from this orchestra are those featuring japanese music not available otherwise, and they all are top-notch. It's also the orchestra of Joe Hisaishi in its Pops branch (like JW was in the BPO). As with all major orchestras from Japan, you can't go wrong with it.

Right now it's this way: 1 Saving Private Ryan 2 Empire of the Sun 3 War of the Worlds 4 Amistad 5 Minority Report 6 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 7 The Lost World: Jurassic Park 8 Always 9 Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade 10 Schindler's List 11 Jaws 12 Munich 13 Jurassic Park 14 E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial 15 Close Encounters of the Third Kind 16 The Terminal 17 A.I. It's so great to hear that Williams is conducting some Rosenman too! Bravo, maestri (Adams and Williams).
-
This is the best season of any orchestra I've ever seen. Premiere of a new Adams symphony, JW concert, Goldsmith's concert work, David Newman's world premiere, Adams conducting a big suite of Rebel Without a Cause (he's the only conductor in the world to pay such a tribute to the late great Rosenman), Kraft's percussion concerto, premieres by Unsuk Chin and Stephen Hartke, Estevez's Cantata Criolla, Thomas Ades concert, Golijov's Pasión... I WISH I LIVED IN L.A. I hope they broadcast the concerts at least (they used to... last year, but not this year, for some reason).

Williams' 46th nomination will have to wait. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Alexandre Desplat Defiance James Newton Howard Milk Danny Elfman Slumdog Millionaire A.R. Rahman WALL-E Thomas Newman

Lots of cool stuff. You need to love Elfman though if you want to enjoy it.

Care to choose one more? No, I don't like any of the other 2.
