  1. If it's a cost-cutting measure, that doesn't bode well for expanded sequel scores and their re-use fees.
  2. The second clip, I guess they just really wanted to get that EPIC trailer sound so I understand why they didn't go for any John Williams music, but huh...I would have thought Leia's Theme would have been a given for the first clip. sorry I don't know anything specific.
  3. I think I'll be doing this too. I haven't found the score to be too repetitive, but I just love the film version. Yeah I am so glad Williams approved of it because I love having both options! I wouldn't have been surprised if he said 'no' to the idea.
  4. That's awesome, thanks @BrotherSound I'm not sure about Sabrina is Home, but for Have Your Tea, the alternate appears to omit a couple of the first the first note of the celeste at the start, and has cellos starting on a lower pitch, while the non-alternate has cellos start on a higher pitch, then moves to lower. I wonder if there was a logistical reason why to modify the cue to have it start a little bit later? Not sure. Edit: Oh wait, I see. Sabrina is Home (alternate) doesn't have violins on the big statement of her theme, only violas it sounds like (or cello too?).
  5. Gorgeous arrangement of The Missouri Breaks love theme by Brett Mitchell. Check out all his other Williams arrangements as they are all fantastic and he plays beautifully.
  6. The Monkey Band cues are such a cool, unique piece of film music and star wars history. I hope that when the Mike Matessino produced scores come out someday, that Monkey Band No. 2 can be presented without the fade-out, just to hear how those guys ended it. And also, if there are any other cool raw takes worth including of that small group of musicians, that they could be included...kind of like how the historic recording of the Star Trek TMP Main Title sessions bits were included on that LLL set. Just having a nerdy fan daydream for a second.
  7. Not finished with Party in the Moonlight disc yet, but wanted to pop in and say that surprisingly, it's not the main theme or Moonlight that's been stuck in my head the last couple days, but it is 'How Can I Remember?'! Something about the melody is connecting with me more than the other themes at the moment. I particularly love the appearance of this melody in the score cues it shows up in. It works well as a sentimental theme within the score, though it's not used as often as the other themes.
  8. Let me know how it is and if you suddenly feel like writing some music while drinking it.
  9. Learning the Ropes, official* music video wow! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yT3B5zDJ3ktqZHS4Z1Z-e85q2x5uOHxF/view?usp=sharing *not really
  10. I listened to the alternates, all nice too though for a few I need to directly compare to make sure I'm right about the differences. Learning the Ropes (Film Version) is awesome! What cool 90s nostalgia I am getting. I can just picture a spry 1995 John Williams doing the moonwalk to this. Nice to have the La Vie En Rose with orchestral accompinament all the way through, I might prefer this version. And yeah, like @BrotherSound said, interesting totally different feel to the ending of Linus' New Life (alt)!
  11. I listened to the main score program (not alternates yet) and really, really enjoyed it. The score as a whole feels nicely fleshed out, is not too repetitive to me and is a nice overall length at 53+ minutes. I really enjoy the nice woodwind writing and performances throughout the score, and the warmth of the writing throughout. I liked hearing the different keyboards sprinkled throughout the score in addition to the beautiful piano playing. There is the Randy Kerber celeste sound in some tracks, there is the harpsichord bits which are fun, and then some other synth noises, similar or the same as the synth 'chime' (?) sounds in Home Alone and reminding me of the synth bell noise in 'Hide and Seek' from ChatGPT A.I. It's a beautiful score with a lot of nice intimate moments, along with more grand flourishes of romanticism. Really happy to have this expansion!
  12. Woodwinds: Spitfire Symphonic Woodwinds Brass: Spitfire Symphonic Brass, Cinesamples Cinebrass Percussion: Cinesamples Cineperc Timpani & harp: Orchestral Tools Strings: Spitfire Symphonic Strings good point about that 0:16-0:18 section!
  13. I found a short logo theme I sketched out some years ago and never finished. I can't remember exactly what I imagined, just that I had envisioned a fictional film studio logo and sketched out a heroic theme to accompany it. I finished it, and then for fun, I found this fake movie logo creator website online, www.ivipid.com, and chose one of them to set the music against. Silly, but fun! Might be a good exercise to choose one of the other templates and try to write music to it.
  14. Genius Juice is many things. It's refreshing, it's delicious, it renews the mental clarity. One thing it is not, is something you can say no to!
  15. I just read through the liner notes on my copy, which arrived today. Even though, as mentioned above, its main focus isn't on the music itself, the notes are so well written and it's all very interesting! Mike really knows how to write great liner notes! He paints a really clear picture of what was happening at this point in Williams' career, a really cool connection between Williams and Audrey Hepburn that I didn't know about, and some really cool info about both the original film and this one. I hope to listen to the music soon!
  16. Yeah, that is sad. I definitely prefer the sound of the film score over the album.
  17. Each May the 4th I think "today would be a cool day to announce the complete scores." I do wonder though...when it does eventually happen in 2077, will it just come out of the clear blue sky on an unimportant date, a surprise to be sure but a welcome one? Or will it be something obvious...May 4th, May 25th, Christmas time, alongside the release of secret Episode X JW score 4CD set, etc etc. Fun to daydream about at least.
  18. I know Jaws quite well and I do love it, I think it's worthy of 5 stars yeaahhh. When I first went full-on John Williams fan somewhere around 2000/ 2001, I went to the library and found the Joel McNeely re-recording there and that was my first real listen to the Jaws score. Even in my newby-ness, I knew it wasn't the actual film recording, though it was fun to listen to. I have a fond memory of my grandparents buying me the Decca Records release when I was on a summer trip to visit them. They said I could go pick out some CDs and so I went to see what they had in the soundtracks section. I got Jaws, the 1998 Close Encounters CD, Jurassic Park OST, Raiders and Last Crusade. Anyway, that 2000 Decca CD is part of a very special memory for me, and then I ended up listening to it very regularly
  19. Excited for Part 6, when I can sit down and give it proper attention. Great thumbnail too, it is somehow entertaining to me to see Jane Eyre next to Obi-Wan but there it is.
