Johnny Douglas's SPIDERMAN AND HIS AMAZING FRIENDS (1981)
Andy replied to filmmusic's topic in General Discussion
I hope to see more of this kind of thing, for vintage animation. I did grow up with the show, and like the earlier GI Joe release, it is missing a few memorable cues. This one, more than the GI Joe. But hopefully there will be more to come. -
Why did John Williams never have a cameo in a Spielberg movie?
Andy replied to JTN's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Spielberg is in Gremlins and Temple of Doom -
John Nagle is many things… He's Williams, Johnny, Curly, Kevin, Towner… a man you don’t say ‘no’ to.

Label Threads The Official Varese Sarabande Thread
Andy replied to Charlie Brigden's topic in General Discussion
It didn't leave an impression. Could've been the theater presentation mix. There wasn't anything in it that made me want to give it a listen on its own. And it wasn't like I hated the film, it's just that the music felt very much in keeping with what other contemporary composers are doing. -

Haven’t heard it. I enjoyed Sommersby and thought Black Beauty was decent. Two examples of non-genre Elfman from roughly the same era. -
What Is The Last Score You Listened To? (older scores)
Andy replied to Ollie's topic in General Discussion
One of the few Morricone scores I own! The movie is one of the funniest Star Wars ripoffs out there. The score is quite cosmic in a lovely way -

Yup. Elfman on autopilot isn’t for me. When he’s good, he’s brilliant. But I don’t recall that being the case here. Thanks for the feedback. I’m sure it’s a good score, but I’m not an Elfman completist, and I don’t need to spend money to add average music to my shelf. I remember absolutely loving the film though, more than the first one. So maybe I do owe it a listen at least. -
It’s okay. Almost seemed like a retread of Season 3.

It makes a big difference when it’s printed. Especially if one black has a bit more gloss than the other. -

Good examples. I want to believe that Starship Troopers is of the same caliber of marketability and sales. -

I would LOVE Starship Troopers reissued, because I’m a dumbass and slept on it when it was out the first time. But isn’t a reissue of that highly unlikely? Does Varese own it in perpetuity? Why would they want to put it out again? Who is steering the ship at Varese nowadays? Is there someone passionate about this stuff, or is it just sort of inherited from Robert Townson? I want to believe the edition @Jay is dreaming of will become reality, but Varese doesn’t seem to reissue things once they’re OOP. -

At the very least, we deserve to see Tallguy ride a horse painted to look like like a zebra. In slow motion.

Of all the celebrities to hate on… Tanya Roberts? Well now I want to see what he would come up with!
