  1. I wouldn’t try to read too much into those numbers: the numbers go as high as 14 for each reel of The Book Thief, but I don’t think it had a lot of revisions or anything out of the ordinary.
  2. Tempi and meter make a big difference, but here's some points of comparison: Episode IV: 180 measures (~3:45) Episode V: 144 measures (~4:30) Episode VI: 202 measures (~6:00) Episode VII: 224 measures (~6:40)
  3. Here's my wild speculation for Episode IX, especially since JW showed a willingness to re-use concert arrangements as underscore with TLJ: film ends with the second half of the Throne Room concert arrangement, starting with the force theme, so we still get a bit of that without it being the ending. Honestly, I'd prefer that to Binary Sunset ending (number 4)! And it'd beat just straight up reprising the original throne room...
  4. It was most likely “corrected”, because they would have started with the same Finale files used for the sessions…
  5. “We See Ren” makes more sense, though. Given more than one source has that, it’s probably just a typo in this version.
  6. Heidi (1968) Music by John Williams Main title - Heidi titles (M1-1) Director titles (M1-2) Waiting for Grandfather (M1-3) To the Alm (M2-1) Heidi & Peter (M2-2) Insert (M3-2) Church curtain (M3-3) Meditation rock (M4-1) Alphabet soup (M4-2) Heidi leaves the Alm (M5-1) Back to Frankfurt (M5-2) A lady-like cry (M5-3) To St. Michael's (M6-1) King Kong (M6-2) Stealing rolls (M6-3) Bedroom scene (M7-1) Sleeping Fraulein (M7-2) Library scene (M7-3) Bad news for Grandfather (M8-3) Heidi montage (M8-4) Heidi prepares to leave (M9-1) Heidi stays (M9-2) Rejoice with me (M9-3) Heidi's entrance (M9-4) Separation scene (M10-1) Farewell scene (M10-2) Klara walks (M11-1) Church entrance (M11-2) Richter's organ (M11-3) Goat's milk (M31) The hay loft (M32) Back to Dorfli (M81) Return to Dorfli (M82) Source: Library of Congress
  7. That’s probably just an indication they’re not entirely unused, in my opinion. ‘Vader Contacts Luke’ is on the list for Return of the Jedi despite the scene it’s named for being cut, because it also includes the music for the droids on their way to Jabba’s palace.
  8. Here’s the list for Episode IV, which has full score leaks for most cues. The cue named and numbers match the sheet music leaks very closely, apart from correcting typos and omitting references to revisions, extensions, alternates, etc. Some cues had more than one title written, like 3M3, which has both ‘The Sand Speeder’ and ‘Land of the Sand People’ written at the top. So, while it’s not as good as a primary source, these seem quite likely to be accurate. Might as well post the others, for anyone else curious: The Empire Strikes Back Return of the Jedi
  9. @CGCJ @Manakin Skywalker @Holko I wouldn’t take the absence of a cue from the list as confirmation that it wasn’t used. The live-to-projection version of Return of the Jedi combines 12M5 The Emperor's Death, 13M1 Space Battle, and 13M2 Vadar's Death all under the title 12M5 The Emperor’s Death, so there’s probably some missing, but what’s here should be pretty accurate.
  10. Maybe the tail end of that cue is actually heard then? Notably, the live-to-projection Return of the Jedi cue list includes 'Vader Contacts Luke', even though the particular scene that name refers was cut, because the cue also contains the music for the droids approaching Jabba's palace. May be a similar situation here.
  11. 13. I think it should also be mentioned that the Pops had a tradition of pranks (e.g. throwing paper airplanes, live lobsters under chairs, etc.) that did not go over well with Williams.
  14. @crumbs @Chewy @Holko Thanks for making this! Here’s a few more I know for certain: 1M4 - Aunt Marge’s Waltz 1MB - New Intro [used for the Aunt Marge’s Waltz alternate] 3M10 Alt. - Remembering Mother Alternate 7M12 - End Credits [including Hedwig’s theme]
  15. I know musicians in a couple orchestras with performances coming up soon, so I’ll ask for the cue list then.
  16. The live-to-projection concerts use pretty accurate cue titles and numbers, so that’s another possible source…
  17. JoAnn Kane Music Service posted a photo a while back of the sketch, which shows 1M4 Aunt Marge’s Waltz:
  18. Good catch: I was noticing quite a bit of Hindemith in the score of Sleepers the other day, and it’s not a name you often hear cited as an influence.
  19. It’s possible he was thinking of more themes, but he wouldn’t be working on actual cues until after the spotting sessions. And a lot of that time in between would have been occupied by A.I.
  20. Four months for HP1, according this article: http://www.jwfan.com/?page_id=4573
  21. Here’s exact dates for Return of the Jedi: Spotting was November 2nd, 1982, and recording began January 17th, 1983, so roughly 10 weeks. The spotting date is from Rinzler’s Making of Return of the Jedi, which also includes this:
  22. Say, @Omen II, any chance the LSO has that poster design in their archives?
  23. I noticed this 1990 Boston Globe interview references a poster for the symphony in his living room:
