  1. Here's my conversion take on BTR1701's "Cartoon Demonstration" from JP, using EWQLSO Gold: http://soundtracks.mixnmojo.com/temp/JP_Cartoon_Demo.mp3
  2. Yeah. Factor in the first four HP video games scores, none of which used Williams' themes but were in the same vein. Then they changed composers for the fifth one onwards, and they were able to license "Hedwig's Theme" for the next scores. However, the digital score releases had to omit "Hedwig's Theme" for rights issues. Yeah, the LEGO Harry Potter game based on the first four films actually got the rights for those scores, as well. I think the main problem isn't to get the rights to use the original film soundtrack "as is" (with some editing, of course), but to re-compose existing compositions to integrate them into other newly composed stuff. After all that's what James Hannigan did for his HP-scores, since the lion's share of them was completely original.
  3. The game's Wikipedia-page has a link to that MySpace-page as well, and it lists Christophe Héral as the composer. So, no Williams here. Move along.
  4. A little correction here: If you use the term "4k", you're talking about an image width of 4000 pixels and 35mm is probably more like 5000 - 10000 pixels in width (although since analogue film stock doesn't have "pixels", opinions vary). So, to be fair, you have to take the horizontal resolution of FullHD for comparisons, which is, of course, 1920 pixels. Technically though, you could just scan the 35mm image at an even higher resolution, and get infinitely detailed film grain Of course, the particle density on the film stock are the "resolution limit" of 35mm.
  5. I don't know if it's possible to use the old EWQLSO version with the so called "Play"-interface... you can download it HERE, so might be worth a shot. Also it's possible to purchase the "Close Mic"-positions separately as an add-on right HERE (under "Purchase/Upgrade"), although you might have to upgrade to the newer EWQLSO Gold ("PLAY Edition") for them to work.
  6. As I understand it, you are using EWQLSO, and that one includes a "hall noise" instrument (under Percussions -> Metal). You mean Orchestral Percussion > F Various Metals? I'm not hearing it in there...just bell trees, mark trees, and triangles...anyway, I don't doubt that there are numerous sample libraries with this sort of noise in them, but I checked, and Symphobia 2 was indeed the one I was thinking of. See here:

  8. Very nice... it definitely has some Williams vibe to it.
  9. Being a huge "Monkey Island" fan, the PotC ride was just the right thing for me... it's tame, it's calm, but it has the perfect piratey atmosphere!
  10. Since I've never been to the US at all (I'm from Germany) picking one of the two parks isn't really the main factor anyway. I guess the major aspect for me would be to see some of the usual places, like either NY on the east coast or LA and SF on the west coast, with the latter one possibly including a trip do Disneyland. If after that another occasion arised, I might pick Florida for a theme park vacation (with Disney World and the Harry Potter park getting priority). Regarding Disneyland Paris, of course I have no comparison to the US parks (or the Tokyo one, for that matter), but I felt that the "Walt Disney Studios" park was definitely the less appealing one... which doesn't mean it wasn't appealing, as it had some nice attractions as well. It's just that the regular park felt much more "Disney", since it was designed in that well known classic style (ranging from the 20's to the 50's, I guess). Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean were probably my favorite ones, and there was also an "Indiana Jones" ride, which, unfortunately, was closed for maintenance. But from the looks of it, it was just a rollercoaster... wasn't there a live action show in one of the US parks?
  11. I've been to Disneyland Paris twice now... the first time in 1991 (I was 10) and the second time in 2008 (at 27), and I've gotta say, it still works for me! It's the absolute "perfect world" atmosphere, and if you're still a kid inside (like I am... some may call it "immature" ) you're gonna love it. I really would love to go to Anaheim, but hauling my ass across the Atlantic isn't really an option right now. I'll get to it though... although I'm really eager to visit the Harry Potter park as well, and that one is in Florida, just like Disney World. How do Disneyland and Disney World compare?
  12. Is it just me or does Lucas sound shockingly old? I haven't seen an interview with him for a while, but the last time (must've been last year or so) he did still sound like back in 1999. Alright, I'm turning 30 next week, so I guess it's just time running past me...
  13. I felt it started extremely strong with this: And then it went downhill...
  14. Just insert a direct link to an MP3-file... the player is generated by the forum software. (but only two of them are possible per post).
  15. Somehow I like the "fake" soundtrack tracks by JD Russell almost better than the official ones...
  16. A new "TIE Fighter" test, which I think - now that I've switched to EWQLSO Gold - sounds a LOT better: http://soundtracks.mixnmojo.com/temp/EWQLSO_tietest.mp3
  17. It really does look like fanart... just look at how crummy Luke's homestedt is painted. Why the hell didn't Lucas re-activate Struzan for these?? As I understand it, he always agrees to come back for his friends... Still, it's funny how the Original Trilogy (Luke) turns its back on the Prequel Trilogy (Anakin)
  18. But that's not possible! Because Hugo Weaving and Sam Neill are dubbed by the same German voice actor... Or isn't Weaving in the movie(s)?
