  1. Actually the Prime Minister is called Lama Su... Taun We is the other main Kaminoan... the female. Mesa think you should read the thread before replying, that was already pointed out to me. BTW ocelot, you've outdone yourself with your new avatar,a gay Darth Vader. No comments. K.M.
  2. I didn't vote since I don't know that many 20th century composers. The Montreal Gazette classical dude "rated" his Call of the Champion album and gave it **/*****. He said that most readers will easily recognise Williams as the leading composer of film music of the modern era,and also had earned the reputation of the guy to call whenever a notable celebratory event takes place, but he said listening to the whole album straigh through, even though the music is meant to be uplifting,it's only in a superficial way and that ultimately everything sounds all out of the same pod and is self-defeating.Personally listening straight through my Williams Fanfare and Hymn compilation gives me the same feeling.Small doses at a time of that stuff is better. He does somewhat get some good reviews for the classical albums he puts out.Personally I don't like any of his concertos all that much.Too dissonant and just plain weird to me.The only piece I really like on the Yo-Yo album is the Elegy...probably because it,s more lyrical and sounds like film music.I don't care much about the rest. I think he will earn his place as best FILM composer of this century, and his work as such WILL be more remembered than the others, but not best overall composer. His body of work outside of film is not that considerable either, some concertos and essays for various instruments, and some celebratory music. What makes him my PERSONNAL best is the way he can layer his music cohesively and make full use of very large orchestra, and I love that type of music compared to lets say Chamber music or plain piano sonatas. And I never quite heard this much use of the full orchetra in any other composer except Wagner. K.M.Who thinks pretty much 18th or 19th classical music pretty much sounds the all the same.
  3. Here is my list of themes and motifs recuring more than once in a Star Wars movie. Some cue are very thematic, like The Flag Parade, but I won't include those. And this is out of memory only. 1-Star Wars main titles or Luke's theme 2-Rebel Fanfare 3-Imperial Motif ANH 4-Death Star motif 5-The Force Theme 6-Leia's theme 6-b-The Jawa theme 7-Throne Room theme(recurs in ANH and ROTJ end Credits) 8-Han Solo and the Princess(BTW my vote) 9-The Imperial March 10-Yoda's theme 11-Lando's Palace theme(used in at least 3 separate scenes) 12-Hyperspace motif(used twice in esb, though tracked) 12-b.Asteroid feild motif. 13-Boba Fett's motif 14-Rescue from Cloud City motif(tracked in ROTJ so it counts) 15-Jabba's theme 16-Ewok theme 17-Ewok secondary theme(heard in the forest battle) 18-Victory Fanfare(After they destroy the Sail Barge an the Death Star2) 19-Luke and Leia 20-The Emperor's theme 21-Droid theme ESB 22-Droid theme ROTJ 23-Rebel briefing motif(continues into the ROTJ Hangar scene,so I count it.) 24-Anakin's theme 25-Duel of the Fates 26-Shmi's theme 27-Escape from Naboo motif(tracked in the pod race,so it counts "officially") 28-Gui-Gon's theme 29-Darth Maul's 8 note motif(appears in at least 3 scenes) 30-War motif(heard first in The Senate(the obi-wan tone poem commercial music) and 2 other scenes, one of them at the end of War Plans) 31-Jar Jar's theme 32-Trade Federation march 34-(since i put some b's in when I forgot one)-Love theme in AOTC. the Source cues: -Cantina band 1 -Cantina band2 -Lapti Nek -Jabba's baroque Recital -Sail barge source music -Jedi Rocks -Ewok Celebration original -Victory Celebration(not really source,but... -Streets of Mos Eisley -Desert Winds -Hangar source music -The Street Signer. -Dexter's Diner source music. K.M.
  4. You should have made an extensive poll.To me it's a tie between The Big Three ,Star Wars main titles,The Raiders March and The Superman "march". K.M.
  5. A friggen Video game, who cares :? K.M.Pissed that his action figures don't sing newly composed Star Wars music.
  6. Oh boy,you missing a lot of choice, though my favourite is in there.Han and Leia. It's the most beautiful AND versatile. K.M.STILL an "occasionnal" poster and demands Special Status.
  7. The more I think about it,the more i think that Williams composed NOTHING for the final battle simply because it's mostly pure CGI and probably wasn't done in febuary or when Williams composed the score.Jim Ware(or was it John Takis...doesn't matter ,i still believe they are one and the same, LOL!)said it in his score breakdown, there is 120 minutes of new music in the movie as it is,even more than Lucasfilm said Williams had composed. K.M.Not liking it when he seems at a hour when he's alone on the board.
  8. I agree with Rogue Leader. The only reason the Tuscans kept Shmi alive is for the story and an excuse for Anakin to wipe all of them out and for us to see her die in Anakin's arms.I don't see a :"meaning" or connection with the Sith whatsoever. K.M.Who noticed there was no talk about Midichlorians in AOTC,wich I think is an idea Lucas decided to drop, wisely.
  9. Anybody knows the numbers for all of the 5 Star Wars soundtracks? K.M.Who knows ROTJ sold the least.
  10. Well, speaking of directing,Lucas with the Special Editions is at least co-director of all SW movies now. And as Williams even said in that Starfix interview,in the end,Lucas decides EVERYTHING.Kershner and Marquand probably directed ESB and ROTJ just as much as Tobe Hooper directed Poltergeist. K.M.
  11. i gather you really dig the score to The Phantom Menace. K.M.
  12. Not only was i going to post this, but you are correct, the Trade Federation theme has nothing to do with the clone army on Kamino. It fits the scene like a glove but i'm 100% sure that bit wasn't meant to go there. It might have gone in the Arena when the Trade Federation droids appear or something like that. K.M.Having an Idea for an alternate thread.
  13. That was hilarious!! Director - who will think of K.M. the next time he sees a SW figure..... lol That sentense somehow just wrote itself on auto-pilot .I actually was laughing at it myself afterwards, whatever it meant K.M.
  14. Yeah,I figured it out looking at e-bay .Tawn We Ta i misread,The name I meant is Orn Free Ta,That's the fat senator with the blue Max Rebo like ears. BTW,While looking through thousands of figures on racks at Toys R Us today, the girl in charge of the section stops me and asks me what Im looking for,I said YODA!.She said EVERYBODY asks for Yoda, and I have only seen only a few for sale.Surprisingly she invites me in the storage room and lets me look at around 15 unopened crates of figs. Most were in there, but in all, only 2 Yoda's(bought one of course ),but anyhow,he seems to be rare.Dexter and the Genosian Warrior are rare too since I didn't see a single one of them on the racks or in the boxes.Mine were lucky finds. K.M.Informant of the State of the Action Figure Status, since he buys his himself, unlike Crusher. K.K.M.,Who opens his figure packages and find the new ones can't stand up by themselves properly, and come with too many useless and fragile accesories, especially the new light sabers with the removable blades, and those "force" and blaster effects accesories look crap).
  15. Han is be a bit older than Luke I guess.I didn't really bother to read the thread therally but if Luke is born around the time of ep3,then Solo would still be a toddling too,so logically he couldn't appear . K.M.
  16. Well,Yo-Yo Ma,Pearlman and Barbara Bonney are highly proeminent in the classical music world outside of film music. K.M.Who flips through some of his dad's zillions of classical magazines he buys every month.
  17. SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER I liked his little smile he made after he chopped one of the C3PO's. That made me buy the action figure. ~Harry He didn't chop him ,he knocked down the one with the C3PO body with a force hand gesture.Someone else chopped off the battle droid with the C3P0 head....anybody remember? K.M.Who has to Plo Koon,be back in a few minutes.
  18. Hard to find it is,I'm still missing it too. K.m.
  19. I just read the Count Chocula thread  ,and people were bickering about some of the stupid character names in AOTC. Here, you can argue some more about the names here. Some of the Jedis in the battle: Kit Fisto(The green dude) Shaak Ti(With the weird multicolor appendages) Plo Koon Sasee Tinn Nitko Luminara Unduli(the women Jedi) The Kamino dudes: Tawn We Tawn We Ta(the leader) Genosian warrior taming the beasts: Massif The rest you know or will when they keep churning out more the figurines, they probably invent some of those names just for the sake of these action figures as they go along long after the movie is over with. K.M.
  20. Sorry, this is the funniest post I've "seen" on this board LOL!
  21. "Anakin Defeats Sebulba" tracked into the Gungan/Droid battle. Laughable." The Conveyor belt sequence,Laughable. K.M.
  22. Not so sure,Crusher told me he had a source that the "upcoming" 2 c.d. set came from the master tapes... K.M.Who know Crusher " trades" c.d's with lots of various and mysterious people we don't know about.
