  1. True. Or, to make it clear once and forever: Something that has has all the cool stuff Goldsmith does while still being clearly Williams. Marian - who likes both composers VERY much.
  2. Well, what's wrong with that? I don't want him to write Goldsmith Goldsmith. I want him to write a Goldsmith score with a Williams touch. Would be something new. Antz had some nice parts, but overall felt too MV-ish for me. Armageddon was perfect for the film, which isn't a compliment at all. Marian - who still considers that the worst film ever made. Yo-Yo Ma Plays the Music of John Williams
  3. (Though Chicken Run is absolutely amazing, as is the film) Marian - making an important correction to his previous statement.
  4. Oh yes! TOD is fun but stupid (horribly stupid in the first 30 or so minutes). Crusade is clearly my favourite of the soon to be trilogy of four. Marian - also feeling strongly about this, and even more about the fact that there are no DVDs yet.
  5. Actually, ever since I saw the first trailer, I was hoping Williams would do a Goldsmith on this one. Something rhythmic, organic, minimalistic. I can't wait to hear it! Marian - who likes some Zimmer stuff, but other than that officially dislikes MV.
  6. Oh, goody! Does anyone know when he'll record it? Looks quite early for him to start scoring - lets hope he has all the time he wants (not that he needs that much, but I guess more time is always a good thing). Marian - excited. The Blue Planet (George Fenton)
  7. If it were from the zoo, it'd have "property of the zoo" stamped on it.
  8. He already used a 4-tone motif in Jurassic Park. Yo-Yo Ma Plays the Music of John Williams
  9. Imperial March JW's best march? Yes. Marian - brief. Yo-Yo Ma Plays the Music of John Williams
  10. Can't vote - both Yavin and Hoth are outstanding. Though of the "smaller" bits, Here They Come!, Into the Trap and Escape from Naboo are all fantastic as well. Yo-Yo Ma Plays the Music of John Williams
  11. Right at the beginning, and it's repeated shortly afterwards. It's the: daa-daa-daa-DA-da Marian - who wonders if anyone understands that. Yo-Yo Ma Plays the Music of John Williams
  12. Normally I'd agree with you. But I'd really like to see Williams score all the Potters. And not even so much because he's my favourite film composer, but because Potter is so much about continuity. Yo-Yo Ma Plays the Music of John Williams
  13. Branagh to direct PoA? Please not! I immensly enjoy his acting and directing (including Frankenstein ), but that would probably mean Doyle would score PoA. Now I love Doyle, too, but when given the choice between a Williams Potter and a Doyle Potter, I'd pick the former, particularly since we already have one of that kind and it would kepe the continuity. And I wouldn't like to see Branagh drop Doyle in favour of Williams, either. Marian - who is still waiting for news about the rumoured DVD release of Branagh's Hamlet.
  14. I thought she was perfect as McGonagall, her voice in particular. Marian - who's thinking about watching the DVD again tonight.
  15. I have that album. It's quite nice, plus it's a HDCD, too (great sound). Marian - who lent the CD to a friend and is still waiting to get it back.
  16. I thought that too when I watched it for the first time. But now on the DVD, I think I only noticed it because I was looking for it. Snape is much more prominent in those scenes. Marian - who loves the way Ian Hart delivers the "Troooooll.....in the dungeon" line.
  17. "Encouraged" as in "threatened not to speak to him again" from what I've read. But they DO age in the books! Actually, Columbus even addresses this in the short documentary on the DVD, talking about how great it wouild be to see all three actors age with their characters through the entire series. The only problem is that they can't afford many breaks longer than a year each between the films...
  18. I noticed that I can directly access each track on the DVD using the number buttons on my remote (never tried them with DVDs before). Most of them will only bring up various sub-menus on the DVD, obviously, but when you try them all, I guess you should find all the interesting features, too. Marian - who watched the nice documentary today. Small Soldiers (Jerry Goldsmith)
  19. Happy Birthday to one of the great founders of film music! Everyone who doesn't have it should go out and pick up Tsunami's Captain Blood CD now. Marian - who's still waiting for DVD releases of all those old Errol Flynn movies with Korngold scores. Small Soldiers (Jerry Goldsmith)
  20. Exactly. She didn't deny the chemotherapy reports, but said that he is doing fine and his health concerns are NOT life-threatening and are treated quite successfully. Marian - who wishes Jerry all the best. Small Soldiers (Jerry Goldsmith)
  21. Absolutely lovely. Marian - who likes Song for World Peace very much. Small Soldiers (Jerry Goldsmith)
  22. Oh Lucious. That's good. Particularly since Harris reportedly never wanted the role in the first place. Still, as long as they keep Watson and Grint (and hopefully Coltrane and Rickman), I'm happy. Marian - who wants to watch the DVD again soon. Small Soldiers (Jerry Goldsmith)
  23. And as a bonus, the image quality (at least on the Canadian DVD) is a lot better than the reviews made me expect. Marian - who found out today that he can access the bonus features on the second DVD using the number buttons on my remote. Nice documentary there (have yet to check out the later tracks). Small Soldiers (Jerry Goldsmith)
  24. Rhodes sounds very fine. The best-sounding Williams album in years is still Rosewood, a fantastic-sounding HDCD recorded by Dennis Sands. Marian - who has seen WinXP and doesn't want it. Small Soldiers (Jerry Goldsmith)
  25. Of course I do. I just forgot about the Bloody Baron (whom I only vaguely remember). I thought Nick's deathday party was in book #1, but now I think you're right, should be in #2. Marian - who still thinks the Bloody Baron in the film looks like Hoffman's Hook.
