Homeland 4x02 Trylon and Perisphere Damn, the journey of emotionless robot Carrie continues. She has just zero connection to that kid of hers, eh? Quinn's breakdown was weird and out of character. Season seems fairly directionless so far. There's nothing here to hook you into the story like previous seasons have had by now - do we really care who Sandy's source was, or what's in Aayan's bag? Meh.

What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Newer Films)
Jay replied to King Mark's topic in General Discussion
Maleficent You know, this was surprisingly good! Ok, it's nothing spectacular, game-changing, or influential, but almost right away from the first scene I was engaged in the story and setting and stayed that way to the end. I was expecting nothing at all here, but found myself wanting to see where the story went. There's almost no one recognizable in the cast outside of Jolie, but they all do an admirable job, and the special effects and overall look of the film were good. FANTASTIC score by James Newton Howard, too! I was hoping the film would shed light on what the various themes on the OST represent, but it didn't really; I guess one is just a "Maleficent is being nice" theme and one is a "Maleficent is being evil" theme -

The last scores I listened to were three great ones from 2014: Planes Fire And Rescue, then How To Train Your Dragon 2, then Maleficent. -

Mr. Neil S. Bulk just announced on his Facebook that he worked on this release, and so did Bruce Botnick. You can see his posts, and pictures of the transferring process, if you are friends with him there. -
Brooklyn 99 2x02 Chocolate Milk Shame everything has completely reset - apart from the single joke to the Boyle/Gina hookups, this could have aired in Season 1 and you wouldn't be able to tell a difference at all. Great interactions this week with Jake and Terry, and Holt and Amy. I didn't buy that Rosa would agree to go to the Jamaican party with Boyle at all, that was a bit OTT, unless she secretly likes him. That reveal that he lives in his ex-wives basement was really pathetic.

The "The End" / "Get Back" mashup is grea too. You know, I saw the Cirque stage show this compilation was made for in 2010, and it was really great. It was my first and still only Cirque show, but if they are all that fun, I'm in for more!

Just hours after appearing on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and replying "okay, yes" when asked by Ellen if there is going to be an Iron Man 4, Robert Downey Jr. taped "Late Show with David Letterman" and said the complete opposite. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=123781

I wish there was a way to see the original trilogy without any color grading at all. Only the old FOTR theatrical cut DVD is anything close to that

What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Newer Films)

Gone Girl Saw this Saturday at a matinee showing in my town, and was reminded why I hardly ever go to the theater any more. People on my left taking cell phone calls, chewing loudly and burping, people behind me talking to the on-screen characters, etc. Bah! Anyways, for about 95% of the runtime I loved this film. It has the same look Fincher has used for his recent work - Social Network, Dragon Tattoo, and House of Cards. It has fine acting from Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Carrie Coon, and even surprisingly Tyler Perry! I enjoy the twists as turns the story took throughout as well. The problem for me was the ending. I thought the final scene(s) (everything from the tv interview onward) where atrociously bad and made me dislike the film. Shame too, because everything before it was so good! -
Williams starts scoring Episode VII in two (!) weeks..?
Jay replied to Sandor's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Hasn't been announced. All six prior scores were recorded in London with the LSO, which leads some people to assume it will be recorded there. Williams hasn't left the USA since 2005, which leads some people to assume it will be recorded in LA. A third option is Williams writes in LA, but it gets recorded under a different conductor in London. It's not DRASTICALLY different, but it IS different. -

It's a 100% guarantee that the OST will be incomplete, are you kidding? -

Out of those 3, we only got Hook on the OST, and it was at the wrong speed. 1941's we didn't get until the 2011 La-La Land release and Harry Potter's we still don't have, not even in the recording session leak. It actually makes sense, since for the Harry Potter 1, he changed the theme a bit from it's teaser version to the final film version And 1941 was a unique theme that didn't really make it into the score Hook's teaser theme was used as a theme in the film's score, basically sounding the same as it did in the teaser. -

AHA! This is all coming together now. Ford A. Thaxton just posited on the FSM boards that the reason Williams is starting to write music in the next 2 weeks is because Disney wants to attach a teaser for Episode 7 to this December's "Into The Woods", which opens Christmas Day. The teaser would feature original cue written by Williams and recorded in LA. I think this is very plausible. http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=96000&forumID=1&archive=0 -

If it was any longer it would be too much to take it. It was just short enough to pull of what it was trying to do. I think Marcy wasn't too impressed with it, but I had to remind her that all the movies she's seen that are similar came out AFTER Se7en - it was a very influential movie. -
I know, but still. Someone like Alex IRL would look at 5-6 schools and weigh all kinds of pros and cons before picking one, not just pick the one she looked at first that will have a cute guy there next fall. It's kinda silly they still make her out to be an unpopular nerd on the show that can't meet boys, cause IRL the actress has gotten super hot
