  1. And probably a female solo voice.
  2. What I find intruiging is that the trailer tells you nothing. It's just men on horses. Very unusual. As if Stone still has a lot of work before him. When is this film due?
  3. I saw it in the Seventies and I was 13 years old. I saw the 70mm version on an amazing big screen and it looked fantastic with lots of detail, color, sharpness and depth, which honestly I've not seen since they closed down the old theatres and replaced them with the new massive concrete multiplexes. The opening shot with the Star Destroyer floored everyone in the theatre room. This was definitely going to be different sh*t. And it was only the beginning. For two hours the movie warped me into another place and time. Star Wars exceeded all my expectations. Movie wise, it's one of my 3 greatest experiences in a theatre. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  4. A very uneven trailer. The beginning sounded like it could be Vangelis. Then we got a cliche library music cue. The end sounded like it could be some Vangelis atmospherics again. I didn't really see a lot of CGI, if any. Might be good news. It's a strange trailer (might be good news too). But it certainly intriques me a lot more than Troy. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  5. Richard Farnsworth was a very charismatic actor. He's been underused to the extreme. I'm glad Lynch thought of him for The Straight Story. --------------- Alex Cremers
  6. My favorite cue of the week, 'Sonic Greeting', happens to be from Superman, The Movie.
  7. Yes Ray, and according to you we're all inferior to the fans of Britney and Christina. And LOTR is the best soundtrack ever written. That's how you think. Live with it. You're a sheep. You don't ask questions. In short, you're an easy victim for the dreaded beast that I'm trying to protect you from. Although you could do worse than Journey to the Island, of course. Let's see and wait how you progress. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  8. Well, I'm glad Murphy finally stopped using this exaggerated "sparkle". Too many Williams CDs of the 90s (Far and Away, Jurassic Park, Seven Years in Tibet, etc.) have been molested by this so-called sparkle he added. It became his trademark sound. Oh BTW, since I've experimented with all kinds of "enhancers" or "exciters" myself, I know very well what their effect sounds like. I always feel a bit sad when I hear some of well recorded film music in that period. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  9. Today I bought the Special Edition of Spartacus (all white box with gold text) and La Reine Margot which I've never seen before. I usually don't do this but given the low price and the fact that Claude Berri is the director, I simply couldn't resist. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  10. I think each case is different. If there was something wrong, then it certainly wasn't the music. Where was the screening held for Dead Again?
  11. Here's a guy that never pays attention to anything. And to think they gave him so much power. What a world, what a world. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  12. No, they are both wrong. Why do you choose to see everything so negatively, Stefancos?
  13. I should see this one again, cause I really can't remember a thing about it, except that Emma Thompson was in it.
  14. And will there be a guest instrument in this score? You know, like the classical guitar in Stepmom. The solo cello in Seven Years In Tibet, etc. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  15. The Straight Story is no really a ordinary "normal" movie. For if it was, many other movies would be just like it. According to Hollywood standards, The straight Story is even more of a arthouse movie than the others Lynch movies. Because unlike his others, this one is completely devoid of the trademark Lynch stuff; the spectacle, the sensation, the nightmarish tension, his typical humor. The Straight Story is just as extreme as his other movies, but it's the extreme that is found on the other end of the scale. The closest thing David Lynch ever did to a normal movie is probably The Elephant Man. Anyway, The Straight Story is worth watching. It's a ride for sure, but not of the popcorn kind. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  16. I don't know, but there's a difference in revisiting a style or composing themes that sound familiar in both melody and orchestration. That was kinda new for some fans and reviewers. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  17. Trees! Good thinking! ---------------- Alex Cremers
  18. For a lot of fans (I'm one of them) the franchise has been killed by Fincher, and especially Jeunet who gave the deathblow. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  19. What is this about? Jurassic Park? Do I lose credibility because I say it's a mediocre score (and a mediocre film)? How about your credibility? Do you gain credibility by saying it's a wonderful score? Do I ask for your valid arguments when you say you adore a score? If you feel that I should start every opinion I state here with, "In my point of view", then yes, I'm guilty. I admit I don't do that in every post I make. But if I'm guilty, then so are a lot of other members here at jwfan.net. Especially those members who are constantly nagging about the credibility of someone else. You know who you are. BTW, ChrisAfonso, if you want that I support my opinions with arguments, then all you have to do is ask. Problem is though, when two people have different opinions, they are both right. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  20. Not a good answer because you're not speaking to a fanboy who only knows Williams.
  21. I never will understand how one can love both Williams and Zimmer. The former knows what he's doing and truly is a master, the latter is a mere charlatan and even admitted to that (that's Zimmer's greatest quality, BTW). ---------------- Alex Cremers
  22. If everyone complains, I'm bound to like it. Heck, I like it already! Mmmmmm.
  23. I say bring on Christian Bale, he'll make a good Bond. Oh that's right, he already the new Batman. Can't he be both?
