I'm tentatively coming to the Saturday night show. I'll only be able to confirm officially Thursday, but if I do come I'll be in Boston Friday and could come to dinner even if I'm not seeing the show.

Yes and it is still not a collage of allusions to the music of the times and yet it seems to inhabit the world the same way the characters do, a highly stylized version of the 1930's.

It is impressive to me when someone can eloquently capture the essence of a time in a score. And not in a bombastic way. Very understated.

You missed out Fraggle Rock, I also love Fraggle Rock. And Labyrinth. Basically anything with muppetry really. Are you completely blind in your aloof ambitions? This is the dedicated forum for the most mainstream movie composer and movies in existence. Regardless, that's moving away from the original point, but never mind. Not interested in mud slinging.

The Lord of the Rings by Leonard Rosenman
A very interesting score. I love his string writing. The main theme feels a little odd, though it worked quite well in the film, and I nearly skipped the "Mithrandir" track halfway. I can't say I prefer this or Shore's score(s).
