Pretty much half of Star Wars (ANH) is in two keys - look at here they come (such cool bitonal writing). Most of the brass fanfares are also.

I would say what are his favorite two keys: since he writes bitonally quite often.

Does any one have one???? I need it. So far as I know the only boot of this recording floating around is the Henry Mancini Orchestra doing it in 2003 I think. They actually read the signature edition and not a fancy version. Does anyone have this?? How many versions are there of this thing? -MIke

The thing is John Williams of the present now fights the John Williams of the 70s,80s, to win. His incredibly outstanding scores which he won oscars for are benchmarks he will have to tie or surpass in order to win another one now. So in a sense if he doesn't hit a homerun, a jewel amongst his jewels, they will continue to give it to the other people of lesser quality. Even though to anyone with musical training the clear choice in terms of musicallity will always be JW.

I heard this too. At first Bill Ross scored most of it - then Williams came back to re do it under the gun.

Scorcese is great - Clint is all class and a gentlemen when i met him.

Chris rock is so borring!! nothing but black/white jokes. In general a very bland ceremony that went on dreadfully long even though the speeches seemed to be quite uncomfortable with Bill Conti standing by to cut you off. I am happy Morgan Freeman one - he is surely overdue. Bring back billy crystal and get some life into this show next year - I hope the ratings sucked big you know whats. PS sean penn is such a pompous #($%

Dissapointing Oscars - I am glad Jamie Fox won - he is just amazing, if you havent seen redemption or ray go rent them. Well if it helps they are all millionares!

If he wrote a Mahler symphony I dont think the man could even win with that at this point.

I just spent all day in the Kodak Complex (theatre where they have the oscars) - the place is all set up. With a rain tarp, over the red carpet blocking Hollywood Blvd. Security is INTENSE!!! all over the place - searching vehicles with mirrors and bomb ditectors. All big trucks must go to the Hollywood Bowl first to be searched and then they recieve an escort to the theatre. Basically come oscar time the Oscar Foundation buys out the whole complex for the week- must be MILLIONS of dollars, including the huge 5 story parking lot below ground. The part of Hollwood blvd that is blocked has plenty of stores (hooters, pizza, tourist shops) is closed to all pedestrian and automobile traffic - they obviously must be compensated also for the week. There are posters all over Hollywood with the oscar info on them. I also passed the celeb parking lot - I imagine for B list celebrities like composers and screen writers, I wanted to sneak my head in for a look. This is defly the biggest day of the year for the city of LA. Just thought I would give you some behind the scenes info. Celeb sighting: Will smith - on the way up the stairs to the Kodak

It's the first time I hear something like this. -Ross, who prefers all the concert versions from E.T. You're quite right, Ross. I do write some utter garbage sometimes, the above being a prime example. The concert version is the film version, or as good as. I have amended my original post and have also spelled Boba Fett's name correctly this time. Sort it out, Damien. The two versions are a bit different from each other. But both are really nice.

I imagine CE3K with some bigger chorus stuff. That will be awesome - whatever the man writes usually is.
