  1. I think it was Seth McFarlane who was most honest!
  2. Lukas Kendall did allude to the various Alternates in his FSM issue when the Arista set came out.
  3. Alan I was thinking along similar lines as you did. In fact, I recall that Chris Malone in his terrific analysis [RECORDING THE STAR WARS SAGA] on the RCA editions particularly pointed out why specific tracks in EMPIRE such as Hyperspace was entirely remixed (by Brian Risner) while others were left alone to reflect Eric Tomlinson's mixes intact. It would now seem to me that perhaps Hyperspace and other remixed cues were rather in not so good condition even at that time and that they had to be remixed again and aligned as much as possible this time around. Infact this is probably what Shawn Murphy was alluding to when I asked him earlier about these upcoming sets and he mentioned that ..." These are the film mixes from the original sources, as best as can be obtained." EMPIRE was mostly sourced from 2 tracks and 24 track source's thus getting all cues to be phased in a unified alignment must have been a nightmare here. perhaps timing was an issue here to address these problems but we can hope for better times ahead.
  4. Good news indeed! Question is who conducted first Williams or Powell?
  5. After this debacle from Disney; I wont be surprised if they actually did it just to milk the cow a final time before the Definitive Editions come around (Sigh)
  6. Not a rumour. Shawn Murphy himself confirmed it in a Unboxing video interview when the 2016 Vinyl box set came out. It was planned and then aborted.
  7. Ha! On the contrary it could be more like (speculating) : OKAY you fix it and make it work since you know how all this works. We know already that Disney is in touch with him via his association with Williams own management. To quote a certain scoundrel-: "Lets keep a little optimism here.." folks!
  8. Oh dear.. You know all this hype and disappointment makes me believe that we will now get Mike Matessino on board for sure for the final definitive restoration to tie in with some future Star Wars event. Right? Lets see. I think if Disney is smart they will listen and re-milk this cow afresh next time. Trust me this isn't the first time we have seen them do the music. Their will be more opportunities in the near future and nothing better than to start with the Prequels, Original Trilogy and then the new saga... its goes on!
  9. Agreed. Matessino would NEVER Dismiss a collegue's effort in any way on any forum or panel. We don't know what went wrong and what happened under the existing circumstances in which the tapes were found and located etc..
  10. The mixing of EMPIRE's the Asteroid Field, Hyperspace on the Video album that accompanied the ROTS OST set displayed a phenomenal mix back then (which was true to Eric Tomlinson's actual film mixes) and that was supervised by Shawn Murphy himself. I wonder what went wrong..(sigh)......
  11. As MV said on the FSM Superman IV thread: "No Comment. "
  12. Like what happened on Jerry Goldsmith's TOTAL RECALL sessions. If true this set would be fun to behold.
  13. So the Blue Box has been broken. Glad to see this finally come out. Let's see if the First film gets another take to meets its 40th Anniversary. Infact this approach reminds me of Intrada's JAWS releases from IV to 1.
  14. Thor. I'm willing to share what ever you need from my JW archives. Let me know.
  15. Thor, Sorry for this. I hear your pain. I have lots of stuff archived. I could send them to you.
  16. Have faith guys. The new remasters will infinitely sound better than their old digital counterparts.
  17. I' do love to have the ALIENIZED Fox Logo preceding the Opening Titles cue. It is so cool. But it was strangely issued on Silvestri's PREDATOR expanded cd.
  18. ALIEN BOX set? or just ALIENS- I've been hoping for an upgrade since I lost my Varese Deluxe!
  19. If Williams does this-he is going to show 'em how to score a Superhero comic book film is done!
  20. So anything exciting next week from LLL ? 10 days left before May begins.
  21. New Intrada on April 17th!. Clue from Roger: "A score only a 10 years old sneaks in with its premiere CD release." Hmm..... looks like another of the same composer back to back...
