  1. Yeah but Now I look forward to the entire batch. SAE will probably have their batch in coming weeks. At least I hope to get it in time this year. Last Year's JURASSIC PARK Collection arrived in Jan.
  2. Unfortunately this time I had a bad experience from LLL when my ET. 2CD set failed to arrive. The've sent a replacement but I'm not waiting so I've ordered it again from SAE with my new bulk order via their expensive USPS Express Mail.
  3. New Mike Matessino Interview Alert!: Internet radio Host Tim Burden from UK just updated his personal facebook page that he interviewed Matessino in London covering CLOSE ENCOUNTERS and E.T. "Back in London and a very enjoyable afternoon spent interviewing Mike Matessino about these beauties" Most Probably an audio interview which should be available online. More details as I get them...
  4. Yes, also noticed in the sample the Choir in 'Chasing UFOs' is more audible and chilling! Jay since you have the cd set already, can you comment on the booklet?
  5. Ordered ! The samples sound terrific with augmented clarity and fidelity. I'm so relived that finally 'False Alarm' has been restored to its original correct film mix. The Arista expansion had the vocal choir mix down quite low so as to be almost inaudible as compared to its film mix where it was very prominent and clear. I had earlier thought either it was an alternate cue or an incorrect mix. Luckily I had earlier checked with Mike Matessino and he kindly clarified back to me (which I'am sharing below) MM: There are no alternate takes for any of the final cues because Kenny cut the 1st generation multi-track. It was simply a matter of balance and bringing out the choir more prominently, which I did this time.Cue is also shortened in the movie. Needless to say hearing the sample online game me goosebumps. The vocal choir sounds terrific. (Thanks Mike.) This is going to be my favourite release of the year!
  6. Yes, I remember that it was once suggested to recreating the synths and mixing them with the surviving tracks. But I thought that this whole thing was with Varese so its still intriguing after all. Looking forward to it.
  7. Yes. There is some wild speculation at the FSM forum that the next batch from Intrada on Dec 5th will feature Jerry Goldsmith's DAMNATION ALLEY score (at last) after Roger Feigelson posted a 9 second clip on the Intrada forum with their frequent Mixing Engineer Chris Malone also chiming in at the FSM board. Roger's hint also seems to be in that direction " The second is the release of the year -- for me personally. It's not one people would have expected so it will be a bit of a surprise. But people have asked for it! ' The score's Electronic Overlay synths have been long lost and may have presented the problem of releasing them. Even though a suite was issued on The Goldsmith Box set by Varese. What do you think? Did they find those missing synth reels finally ? The Golden Age title release is a 4cd set which is also being announced on the same date.
  8. It was revealed much earlier, in fact years ago [maybe MM himself in some discussion] that the actual take was not used in the Boston Pops recording and the take used in the film was a different one. I'm forgetting exactly where. Its been a long time. In fact, I mentioned the same a few posts before La La Land Records and Mike Matessino elaborated its history on the FSM thread.
  9. So I hope we will have a new Matessino Interview via Jay after the set is released.
  10. I love the fact that both cds are designed and approached as an 'album' and a fresh listening experience. I cant wait to gobble disc 2 here. I think I've never been as excited about a Williams expansion since the terrific EMPIRE OF THE SUN.
  11. It sucks when you are in a country that isnt following Daylight Saving time. Still 1 hour to go.....
  12. Yes, but they found better source and so have prepared a new 2cd set master that will sound much better. The 2nd cd being the album presentation/edit. It kind of closes the book on the Goldsmith Rambo trilogy (after similar 2cd set remasters of First Blood and Rambo II)
  13. Roger from Intrada had indicated about their upcoming 4cd set being a Golden Age composer. The other 2cd set title remains a mystery. RAMBO III is probably been stuck in approval process.. as Doug Fake worked on it much earlier this year.
  14. I agree. Williams fans who have clearly adapted to his style of prose understand Williams writing prose and its very rewarding. LINCOLN is a very good example. There was a video promo clip where a TV journalist was visiting both Williams and Spielberg and when Williams played the main motif theme from LINCOLN the TV host apparently said that it wasn't that memorable. I find LINCOLN to be a very layered and effective score that speaks volumes. Its deep.
  15. I think it's TITANIC. The full score on disc 1& 2, the alternates and source music on disc 3&4.
  16. Maybe they plan to do another recording for a 4th album in the near future and include the CE3K Suite....? That would be nice! Also when Varese label reissued THE OMEN on its anniversary they tagged a newly recorded suite as a bonus. So why not?
  17. Just saw an interesting reference statement about the upcoming LLL's release of Close Encounters in introspective celebration article at digitalbits.com: STILL WATCHING THE SKIES: REMEMBERING “CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND” ON ITS 40TH ANNIVERSARY by Michael Coate. "Mike Matessino produced, mixed, mastered and wrote the liner notes for the Close Encounters of the Third Kind: 40th Anniversary Remastered Edition CD release, due this fall from La-La Land Records." Also transcribed is the panel Q& A discussion with Mike Matessino, Michael Klastorin and Laurent Bouzereau. http://thedigitalbits.com/columns/history-legacy-showmanship/ce3k-40th?showall=1#.Wg459b3SU7Y.facebook Just reaffirms that we will see this release in coming weeks for sure.!!
  18. I think for THE SWARM the complete film score would have to be disc 1 whereas disc 2 could be the LP program which I read was a different recording. Also coupled with bonus cues (if any)
  19. How about THE SWARM (Goldsmith) as a 2cd set?, also ROBIN HOOD: PRINCE OF THIEVES would be most welcome. From Williams the obligatory CLOSE ENCOUNTERS along with a HARRY POTTER set or an archival complete release if WITCHES OF EASTWICK now that would be a surprise!
  20. @Bespin: They didnt forget to include the Mynock music in the Arista set as Lukas Kendall explained in his FSM article back then. They had planned to include it on Disc 5 which later got aborted.
  21. You have logically assessed the situation TownerFan. It appears to be the OST vinyl only and because of the special laser etching the 3rd LP has been made, it seems.
  22. This STAR WARS set looks like the SE version on Vinyl for the first time. OR Not?
