Well I wanted to find the Wyatt Earp thread to include some art I found online only to find there wasn't a thread, so here it is! http://www.lalalandrecords.com/WyattEarp.html http://www.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/25752/ http://www.moviemusic.com/soundtrack/M09023/wyatt-earp/ http://store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.8280/.f Anyways, what I wanted to point out was that you can get a high res version of the cover WITHOUT the WB banner - as well as glimpse some sample pages from the booklet - at Warm Butter's site http://warmbutter.com/cds/wyattearp.php

Who else is excited for this score? Here's a clip of the movie with Powell's new score in it https://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-news/how-to-train-your-dragon-2-exclusive-clip-161523920.html?vp=1 EDIT: The music is not from the new score, it's tracked in from the first.

There wasn't a thread for this release yet, so here we go. Anyways, I was looking for a thread for this, because I read these interesting comments on FSM: It definitely sounds fake in the LLL version, but it could also be that the album mix (rightly) buried the male choir in a way that conceals its fakery better than the LLL mix. If that makes any sense. But it's definitely way too pronounced on the LLL version. http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=102269&forumID=1&archive=0 What do people here think about this?

Roger has announced that Intrada will have a new release of Young Sherlock Holmes on Tuesday, April 1st (they will begin taking orders on Monday, March 31st sometime between 7-8pm EST) right here. But even better, our very own Olivier Soudé (EhTar), through the website underscores.fr, has revealed it is a 2CD set, and has the track list as well as sound samples! Here is the article, which also contains several paragraphs about the film and score. Check it out! http://www.underscores.fr/index.php/2014/03/news-young-sherlock-holmes-chez-intrada/ (Note: Scroll past the French to get to the English) Grand total time is 1:43:43 UPDATE: Intrada has now released a new 3CD version in 2019. See here! http://www.jwfan.com/forums/index.php?/topic/24269-bruce-broughtons-young-sherlock-holmes-new-2019-3cd-intrada-edition/&do=findComment&comment=1630521

The Specialized Soundtrack Market has it changed or stayed the same? For me it times have change. In 1997 when the RCA Victor Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition 2 CD Releases , The 2000 Superman The Movie Rhino Records 2 CD Release and the 8 Disc Superman The Music 1978-1988 Box Set came out those where the peak of the specialized soundtrack market. Buying CD Soundtracks and expanded soundtracks is not the same now as it was in 1997 most people are streaming or buying their music off of iTunes , Amazon Music , Google Play Music , listening to it via Spotify etc. Sure you have company's and labels like Varèse Sarabande , Intrada Records and La La Land Records who put out these Limited Edition CD Soundtrack Sets but the market for buying CDs has changed. What are your thoughts on this and what is your opinion on this?

Which Vangelis electronic score do you prefer; Chariots of Fire or Blade Runner? Both the scores and the films are undoubtedly iconic and great, but I personally prefer Chariots of Fire over Blade Runner, in both categories.

Which film and score do you prefer; Superman: The Movie or Batman? When it comes to the films, I feel Superman: The Movie is the superior movie. For all its atmosphere and distinctive production design, Batman ultimately feels somewhat hollow. As with nearly all of Tim Burton's movies, it is a film of style over substance. I feel Keaton fails to own the role of the Caped Crusader, while Reeves completely owns the characters of both Clark Kent and Superman. The Bruce-Vicki relationship is empty and emotionally vacuous, and while Jack Nicholson's turn as the Joker is entertaining to watch, it ultimately is little more than an iconic celebrity doing his well-worn shtick in a villain costume. All this is not to say Superman is a perfect film, but it has a lot of heart, and I feel it does a lot right, arguably hitting higher highs than Batman. Both scores are excellent and undoubtedly iconic. While I concede that Williams' Superman may be the superior score, I've always preferred Elfman's Batman, which I firmly believe to be his magnum opus, and in my top ten favorite film scores.

I was thinking about the famous "I'm flying" scene from Titanic and, in particular, the precise moment where the music reaches its emotional climax. On paper, you might expect the score to swell at the moment Jack and Rose kiss, but it actually reaches its emotional peak a few seconds later when Rose reaches up her hand to hold Jack's head closer. The moment becomes a lot more sensual and somehow more romantic as a result. I realise this is just intelligent, intuitive film scoring, but the timing of these things always fascinates me. (2:09) Another example off the top of my head is the final scene in Home Alone when Kevin and Old Man Marley share their moment through the window. One could score it so the music swells when Marley raises his hand in greeting, but Williams holds it for that little moment longer until Kevin returns the gesture, when both characters have completed their arcs with regards to each other. This video below actually has the alternate “O Holy Night” version of the cue too, and you can see the emotional journey is exactly the same in both pieces of music. (00:47) I’m curious to know if you can think of any other examples like this. Moments where the music could reach an emotional peak at one moment, but actually climaxes at another for a stronger emotional impact.
