Nothing interesting for me :/

Bring Giacchino (or Williams...) and i'll be there!

Could someone from the organization please get in touch with me? I sent a message to the prensa {} bsospirit {} com address on december 14, but I have not had any reply yet. :)

I can't log in, and I would like to know and if you can use PayPal for the pre-registration as I did to register this year.

I am not sure I will be able to attend, but I would lvoe to have the DVD of this year's concert. The deadline for pre-registration is in a couple of days, but I needed the answer of a friend before doing anything (he certainly won't be able to come).

Pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase !

There are more worthy composers than Williams and Giacchino. Scott and Broughton are certainly among them (not to mention that they are one of the best living film composers since people like Goldmisth, Bernstein and Poledouris are gone).

Living in Spain and not attending should be punished with castration :)

--- Chris, who - in fact - also doesn't know if he is going to come.

I'm seriously considering heading to Ubeda in 2008. Just the excuse for me to try out my new anamorphic lenses for my new movie "The Cock and Bull Incident"

Broughton was there last year. He's great.

And after listening to some tracks of him the other day, I realized I'm suffering a severe shortage of Bruce Broughton soundtracks!

If by severe shortage you mean 0, then count me in...

I also am severly short on Broughton in my collection. While initially a bunch of his scores sturck me as too 'Disney-ish', his gift of orchestration soon comes through and dispells any such notions. I've been listening to his main theme from Homeward Bound constantly over the past few weeks.

I'd love to go but I'm heading to western Austria with my boyfriend. He loves climbing. So do I :P

Manuel, what's stopping you from heading south in a summer weekend?

I think I'll be attending too this year, if there is no change until july.

I have decided I will not be attending this year.

While I would love to go again and see all you guys once more, I am already going on vacation twice this summer and want to spend the rest of the time doing other things.

Also, I have no money for a third vacation.

I will be working on the university this summer, with random horary, so i dont know if i could go.

There is also a 3 days trip in a Bird/whale watching ferry that some friends are attending to and i'm dont know if i will go or not yet...

And i almost have decided not to go because it a lot of money (similar to ubeda) and its about time i got some decent binoculars...so spending the money in something more lasting appeals to me more...

I dont know any music of most of the composers going.

i'm waiting for giacchino to come. i dont know if if could go to several years of these conferences.

if giacchino was this year i would be coming for sure, mcneely and baños being a nice addition.

I somewhat regret not attending last year, with Baños promoting alatriste, ottman with superman... and Arnold with casino royale. But alt least i finished the vet degree...

Roque Baños has discussed with the organization and confirmed that he is preparing a big surprise for all the fans who decide come to meet him in the 4th Conference this year in Úbeda.

This is very ticking. He has not released the promised 2cd alatriste....Could it be this?!

Not enough money.

A 2CD edition of Alatriste? This sounds interesting, especially if it features the wonderful suite he conducted.

One thing I am very sorry I will miss is the DVD of last year's splendid concert.

They ought to offer those of the guests who cannot return the next year the possibility of ordering the DVD of the concert they have attended.

I have only been there once, and have only spent relatively little time with you guys (what I mean is that a few days is really not much), but I have thought of Ubeda a lot since then (the city, the conferences, the concert), and will miss the whole experience (including the stiffling hot weather :P -- ooooh, and those exquisite lemon icesicles!) and getting to meet you again.

About the 2cd Alatriste it was just speculation

Dont get your expectatives too high. But it would be nice for Baños, if they have not been able to release it officially, and it seems a big surprise :fouetaa:

This 2cd version was going to include a booklet with explanation of the themes and things like that from the composer himself, and the additional cues would be the three or four cues not released, and some demos (i think he wrote a swashbuckling theme for alatriste before seeing the movie and the director was freaked out because it does not fit the tone of the movie at all) i dont know if he has recorded the suite...

Wow, shaping up to be a great conference again...I would certainly go if there was any way possible I could! Scott, Broughton, Doyle and McNeely is a fine lineup. I am guessing Townson and McNeely might discuss their Varese rerecordings? That would be very interesting.

Wish I had a couple grand extra....sunny Spain in July...sigh!

In my mind, Broughton is the next best thing after Williams right now.

I too miss a lot of his work, but at least I listened to it in one form or another, and by another, I mean, louzy mp3.

What about Elliot Goldenthal? I always saw him as a possible successor to Williams; he probably has the greatest amount of technical expertise of any film composer aside from Williams.

Goldenthal?

Sure, he is talented and skilled, but he is not enough versatile in my book and I couldn't imagine him scoring for example light-hearted comedy or adventure movie.

I also think when it comes down to talent, array of resources and composing ability, Goldenthal is the best thing after Williams.

I don't know. I have listened to several Goldenthal's scores, I find his Alien 3 superb, but he is far from being my cup of tea.

Well, he doesn't appeal to everyone, that's for sure. He can get pretty extravagant sometimes, even for my taste,s and I consider myself to be a huge fan of his work.

You can't get much more light-hearted and silly than Joel Schumacher's Batman movies. The films themselves are not that highly regarded, but the scores are first-rate.
