Sandor 797
The PassionBy Mel GibsonA film about the life of Jesus Christ. Clocking almost 4 hours...James Horner is probably already signed, but this is my dream project for John Williams. I don't even dare to imagine what he could come up with for the tale of the Christ.Bye,Roald
Guest
Best left to Horner i think.Utter Bollocks that idea, but lets start talking about Williams scoring a Bond film
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,265
Oh please....Didn't PATRICK Williams already score a Christ film?Horner would be much more suitable for such a film, since he still dares to go completely epic.John Williams would score it to cereberal, to restrained.Off course even that would top the score for Jesus Christ Superstar. LOL Stefancos- who is convinced that Andrew Loyd Webber is actually Satan
Guest
To guest; you're already starting to irritate me...To Stefan; if Gibson would ask the assigned composer to write a beautiful, melodic score I would have most faith in John Williams. Something like Schindler's List meets Maurice Jarre's Jesus Of Nazareth. Now Horner will do fine do doubt. But whereas Williams has the gift of writing truly profound and complex themes - yet beautiful, something The Passion really needs, Horner is most likely to maintain his more simplistic compositorial characteristics.Personally; I would prefer Williams' work if Gibson would aim for such a direction in score ofcourse, which is totally hypothetical right now.Bye,Roald
Romão 2,274
I'm still hoping he scores the Alexander the Great bio pic, Now that's the type of score Williams hasn't really done and that I would love to hear hwo it would turn out.
scissorhands 16
If I'm not wrong, the film will be shot with all the dialogues in latin and arameo (arameo in English, please???) It would be great if John Williams wrote the music for that movie.
Morn 8
Only if the film is something big and epic in the style of Ben Hur or King Of Kings. To see a Williams score of an ancient epic the size of these films is all I want to see, not really interested in this movie if it's anything but. Ross 1
Of course even that would top the score for Jesus Christ Superstar. LOL Stefancos- who is convinced that Andrew Loyd Webber is actually Satan JSC is indeed the best and boldest musical translation of the gospels.Andrew Lloyd Webber might be Satan, but he wasn't in the 70's.-ROSS, remembering some of his favorite musicals: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Phantom the Opera. . . . .and imaginning Stefancos twisting in agony. Adoy 1
Why even worry? Here's what will happen: (IMO)1. The movie is 4 hours long.2. Someone will compose 5 hours of music.3. We'll get 70 minutes of it on CD. No isolated score at DVD time.4. Everyone, everywhere will spend the next five years complaining about it until some music company gives us a special 6 disc set.5. Everyone, everywhere will complain because a 10 second que was missed and accuse the music company of not caring about film music or its fans.6. The board will now yell at me... Adoy - who likes the idea of JW scoring all movies, all the time!!
