Gruesome Son of a Bitch 6,488
So this was intended to be used before virtually all Dreamworks films, and they were satisfied with that?

Unlucky Bastard 7,782
It's always sounded a bit "lossy" even from a lossless source.
Mattris 416
I'm sure the cue's old, film/tape-like sound is a "deliberate creative decision" made by the Dreamworks producers and John Williams. The filter they added to the recording gives it a touch of nostalgic flavor.

Thor 7,515
Yeah, I've always found that weird too.
crumbs 14,318
Ain't much better than that on actual films. Even before I understood the complexities of film music, audio quality, compression, etc. I always found it really strange how crappy it sounded. Return of the Jedi's third copy master sounds clearer than this.
A24 4,345
I never noticed it with Dreamworks but I always thought Williams' logo for The Ladd Company sounded like it came from a portable cassette tape player.

Unlucky Bastard 7,782
Williams should have scored Blade Runner. Maybe in the next Funal Cut. Gruesome Son of a Bitch
Jilal 569
HD version: Sounds fine to me. There's quite a lot of reverb, so that might mask some of the original sound.
Mattris 416
It sounds as though the added distortion filter only affects the brass, which were probably recorded separately than the strings and guitar. Also, I noticed that the cues starts with a fade-in. Curious...

pixie_twinkle 48
I remember being surprised by the sound quality when I first saw the logo. I really notice some wow and flutter on the guitar, giving it that slightly bubbly quality. A very weird creative decision.
