Jurassic Shark 12,076
Anybody got experience with Pioneer's PD-30AE CD player and A-40AE integrated amp? Are they too cheap?
A24 4,333
Especially the PD-30AE gets good reviews, but you already knew that, didn't you.
Jurassic Shark 12,076
Of course, but I haven't had the opportunity to test it. I'm also wondering about the load time of the discs. On some new players it's up to ten seconds, which I find terribly annoying. It'll probably be this or Marantz' CD6006.
A24 4,333
Apparently the PD-30AE is a slow machine.

A24 4,333
Yes! Of course, pure aesthetically speaking, that Marantz CD player will not be a perfect companion to the amp you've mentioned.
Jurassic Shark 12,076
Link please? Aesthetically speaking, Marantz only fits with Marantz. I've never liked their design, but it's what's under the hood that's important. And if I'm not getting the Pioneer CD player, I'll probably stick with my old Nad C350 amp. It also looks way more audiophile with ugly components that don't match each other!
A24 4,333
It's just a short user's review and you have to translate it. He puts slow start times in the negative column. It's about the only real negative he could come up with. https://tweakers.net/product/901888/pioneer-pd-30ae/reviews/

Jurassic Shark 12,076
That's cool. What I don't like is the design that pops out at the middle, which they've had for at least 20 years now.
A24 4,333
Yes, I don't like that either. But the PM17 was before the dark sticking out times. For now, the highest bid is 450 Euro.
Jurassic Shark 12,076
When was it first released, and what was the price at the time?
A24 4,333
Around 2000 Euro. There were cheaper versions, but this one was the most expensive edition because it was tuned by Ken Ishiwata, hence the KI signature.
