Same thing happened with American Pie 2, which came out in 2001 but is set in 2000, despite lots of 2001 songs and products being included.

And how would someone know that? The point is never made, and for a normal viewer, it's completely illogical. And it also doesn't explain the giant plot hole between Skyfall and Spectre.

Spectre is a garbage film and I have no idea how long after Skyfall its meant to take place, but somewhere in Skyfall they mentions 6 years have passed since Vesper's death, I don't remember where

I actually did feel a bit strange that the third film revolved around Bond being old and finished when he became Bond just years ago. 

 

And then I went and took a look at Casino Royale again. Craig looks like a fresh faced baby there compared to how he looks in Skyfall. He aged decades it seems.  So just about pulls off the new plot development.

Bond in Skyfall does look more seasoned, so it works for me. And lets be honest,6 years is more then enough to become an experienced intelligence operative.
