Married... With Children

Recommended Posts

What do people think of the show? And how about the theme? For those of you who don't know, Married... With Children is a show from the late 80's to the early 90's. It's about a family and their life. It is very politically incorrect. I can't really explain it any more. I bring this up because reruns recently started airing on FOX, and American TV station. I personally love the show. Thoughts?

Great show. Very funny, and it was FOX's first hit. The show ran until 1997. FOX cancelled it without even telling the cast, which is why the show never had a "good-bye" episode.

I think it's great. But I like the newer ones better than the old ones. Al Bundy has some great expressions. But it's surely not a family show if you're into your kids learning family values.... but they don't make shows like that anymore anyway! :sigh:

And I always loved that Sinatra theme. It works so well with the show.

Yes, this show a stunner as is Love And Marriage theme song. It was rebroadcast here a short time ago and I always find a time to watch it even though these re-runs are usually showed at late night time.

Married... With Children is definately one of the best shows of the past 15 years. Al Bundy was the ultimate anti-hero on television. It always helps you to think that it doesn't matter how bad you have it, at least you don't have it as bad as he does.

They're airing reruns over here as well, I think they're still in the first season or something (where Steve is still Marcy's husband). I don't really watch it anymore, because I've already seen most of them, especially the older ones.

Too bad the hooting took so long in later episodes.

- Marc, who thinks Married... is absolutely brilliant.

I liked some of the gags, and I, as everyone, enjoyed the great chesmitry between the cast... But on the whole I never took to it. For some reason Ed O'Neil struck me as thoroughly unfunny. Although David Faustino made up for that... oh and Christina Applegate also made up for Katey Sagal (who must have some of the funniest one-line punchlines in TV history). But in the end it was never my cup of tea.

Married with Children was a brilliant sitcom, with Al Bundy as the ultimate loser, who we all felt sorry for ("Did you know i once scored 4 touchdown in one game when I played high school footbal?")

It's also the only show that did not get cancelled the year after Ted McGinley joined the cast :)

Another network made a carbon copy Maried, named Unhappilly Ever after, which was completely identical except that the daughter was smart and the son was an idiot, and the father had concerstations with Mr. Floppy, a toy bunny.

That show was not nearly as good, cause you never felt sorry for the father character.

I mainly watched the show to drool at Nikki Cox's wonderfull body.

Stefancos- who put's his hand in his trousers the same way as Al Bundy, when watching TV.

MWC is too racy for me. Now...the Simpsons are my thing! But that's another thread. (King of the Hill and Futurama aren't bad, either--they're basically Simpsons spin-offs)

The first few seasons featured some truly inspired episodes, very very funny. Once Steve (Marcy's husband) left the show, so did most of the laughs. McGinley is terribly unfunny in every role he's every played, this being no exception. MWC very much should have ended once he came on board. The last few seasons were downright ridiculous, I tuned in only every now and then at this point. The show relied on outrageous cameos and completely ludicrous plot lines. Also, the longer the show was on the air the more exaggerated the characters became. I would like to own the first 2 or 3 seasons on DVD, but I don't think that will happen...

An excellent show. Didn't have any qualms about anything, I never thought it really pushed the limits or anything but man, when it was on, it was ON.

Al Bundy might be one of the greatest characters ever on TV. I'm going to do the thing he does with Kelly's dates, ram their heads into the doors and such.

I loved Jefferson, personally. I thought he was hilarious. When Al would make fun of Marcie, he'd laugh and get in trouble.

It started getting kinda stupid towards the end. And how about that goddamn SEVEN character. UGH.

The show was quite good, it wasn't extremely funny, but it sure was entertaining.

Too Racy???????????? hahahahaha... OK?!?!?!?! You better not ever watch any British TV then :)

Maestro - I liked the show, however it's only because Ted McGinley was on it later on and he plays on the same team as myself, if you know what I mean, and he's damn cute too. Also, I was used to him from Dynasty so his "porn caliber" acting I thought fit in with this show, and Stefan, Dynasty didn't get cancelled the year after Ted joined either ;)

Christina Applegate I met a few times and she's really sweet. Completely different from her on the show, like 18 degrees!!!!
