hi guys, i'm new here, and i love how there is a board dedicated the the master of film scoring. I'm planning a trip to boston in may to get the 'once in a life-time' chance to see him conduct his own music, so i'm really excited :)

some of my favorite scores of all time are:

Braveheart - James Horner

The Patriot - John Williams

Pearl Harbour - Hans Zimmer

Last Samurai - Hans Zimmer

Munich/Memoirs of a Geisha - John Williams

just to name a few...i don't watch as many movies as i hope, so i probably miss a lot of good scores that accompany them. as you can see from my tastes above, please suggest the best scores you can think of that fit this criteria, thanks tons!

AI is an excellent choice, it's my favorite non-action/adventure Williams score (by action/adventure I mean Superman, Star Wars, Potter, Raiders, etc). It's a more serious score, and has some really moving parts, not to mention some beautiful themes.

Rambo: First Blood Pt. II

Ex-cellent choices!

I was also pleased to see Somewhere in Time mentioned above. I love that score!

bruuen,

I noticed you like Peal Harbor and The Last Samurai. Something tells me you won't really enjoy some of the scores mentioned by these folks in this thread. Some scores that I think you will enjoy:

John Williams:

- Schindler's List

- E.T.

- Raiders Of The Lost Ark

Hans Zimmer:

- Backdraft

- The Lion King

- The Rock

James Horner:

- Glory

- Legends Of The Fall

- The Land Before Time

Ennio Morricone:

- The Mission

- Once Upon A Time In The West

- Padre Pio

Jerry Goldsmith:

- Under Fire

- Star Trek First Contact

- Rudy

Other composers:

- Conan The Barbarian (Basil Poledouris)

- Edward Scissorhands (Danny Elfman)

- Watership Down (Mike Batt)

Just from the top of my head.
