  1. That's Gary Kurtz, producer of ANH and TESB I'd say he's not referring to a special instrument but to a specific sound/mood/expression. In both cases (Star Wars VI and PoA).
  2. interesting! I have no idea though how that works. Are you sure? I'm wondering why you can hear the click track.
  3. Everyone who will be there: have a great evening! German/French TV station arte will show the concert tomorrow evening, 8pm CEST. https://www.arte.tv/de/videos/104491-000-A/anne-sophie-mutter-und-john-williams-mit-einer-urauffuehrung/
  4. lecture about the Berlin Philharmonic Hall's architecture and architect, to warm up for the event. „The hall remotely recalls a tent […] and allows for as many different experiences as there are listeners. Instead of ideal seats and cheaps one, all democratically different.“
  5. https://www.berliner-philharmoniker.de/en/saison-2021-22/ presale: it says 9th August now btw. Both in English and German.
  6. https://www.facebook.com/OmniMusicPublishing: On June 2nd at 12PM Pacific, please join Timothy Rodier and Dan Redfeld in a discussion with writer/director Phil Alden Robinson. This Zoom event is sponsored by ASMAC. Topics will include the relationship between composer and director, spotting the film, and the recording process. We will look at the scores to several cues against picture including Omni Music Publishing's upcoming release, "Sneakers." Don't miss this unique opportunity to listen to a great filmmaker talk about working with Oscar-winning composer James Horner. Also on the panel will be Sara Horner, Jim Henrikson, and Joe E. Rand https://asmac.org/index.php/calendar/parties/060221-composerdirector
  7. https://omnimusicpublishing.com/product/james-horner-sneakers-full-orchestral-score/ ordered!
  8. produced and recorded by Bruce Botnick btw! With a 48piece orchestra – quite unusual for a musical. I think the actual pit orchestra in the show was smaller though. I saw it in Berlin in 2001. https://www.discogs.com/de/Alan-Menken-Stephen-Schwartz-James-Lapine-Disneys-Der-Glöckner-Von-Notre-Dame-Die-Höhepunkte-Der-W/release/5982656
  9. Perfect time to wake up, it’s 8:30 AM in Berlin 😌
  10. Great news indeed. It's a lovely score. btw the recording of the German stage adaption in 1999 is one of my favorite musical albums, fantastic orchestrations.
  11. Indeed, watched the movie the other day and it's full of unreleased music. <3 I love James' crashing pianos and Sneakers is full of it but I'm wondering how interesting the orchestral score might actually be. Take a look at this action cue from Titanic: “triplet improv. by James“
  12. Interesting! It's not in the 918pages PDF file that I have.
