  1. Yes, I also consider it highly likeliy this is a licencing issue. And no, all "Danger Zone" related tracks, 1-2, 1-4 and also 1-14 in the movie have vocals at some place or another. 1-10 seems to be cut into several places between leaving Charlottes home and the love scene that all have Terri Nunn humming that is completely it's own thing and nowhere replicated in the official song version. 1-11 also has vocals, but clearly also is not the same version as the song.
  2. Yes, I disagree. Sorry! Regarding "original production" I go with what is and has been in the movie since 1986. Anytime. And not what has been release in 2024 as a 5000 items limited edition. If the recorded synth track leaves holes to be filled with vocals, that's is not an intended artefact. It is an unfilled hole.
  3. I never said there's not much to enjoy here. When I got the disk I heard stuff like "Main Title" or "Jester Flying" four or five times in a row. But you can't deny that especially tracks 1-10 and 1-11 sound like a Karaoke track or a keyboard in auto-accompany mode. It's glaing obvious that somethings missing there and those are not complete pieces of music - and that's what's really irritating about this release. They go all the way to put everything that's in the movie on disk - I mean that's the whole point of Lalalands limited releases: to really put everthing on disk noone else but nerds like us are interested in. And then they drop the vocals. Either this is really a mistake or oversight, or there must be severe legal or licencing issues behind it. It is a great release nevertheless, but it leaves a bit of a strange taste.
  4. I already posted this in the Top Gun LE thread, but I guess it makes sense here as well: Top Gun (based on 2024 LE release) 1-1. Main Title 1-2. Carrier Takeoffs and Landings 1-3. Two Migs, Not One / Cougar Chased by Mig / Mav Flips the Bird / Cougar's Troubled Landing 1-4. Mav Goes to Fightertown > 2-4. Lead Me On - Teena Marie > 2-6. Hot Summer Nights - Miami Sound Machine 1-5. Jester Flying 1-6. Tower Flyby 1-7. Viper Comes Down on Mav 1-8. Mav and Goose In Room > 2-3. Playing With the Boys - Kenny Loggins 1-9. Dinner at Charlie's > 2-11. (Sittin' On) the Dock of the Bay - Otis Redding 1-10. Mav Says Goodbye to Charlie > 2-7. Heaven In Your Eyes - Loverboy 1-11. Love Scene 1-12. Mav vs Viper 1-13. End Locker Room and Photo > 2-13. Great Balls of Fire - Jerry Lee Lewis 1-14. Aerial Sequence 1-15. Goose's Death / Memories 1-16. Mav Reflects in Goose's Room / Board of Inquiry / Charlie and Mav in Airport Bar 1-17. Viper's House Pt. 1 1-18. Viper's House Pt. 2 > 2-9. Destination Unknown - Marietta 1-19. Carrier Ready Room and Takeoffs 1-20. Mav is Launched / Mav Bugs Out / Mav Returns to Battle / Return to Carrier > 2-17. Radar Radio - Giorgio Moroder feat. Joe Pizzulo > 2-14. You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' - The Righteous Brothers > 2-2. Mighty Wings - Cheap Trick Please not: sadly in the LE release tracks 1-2, 1-4, 1-10, 1-11 and 1-14 have been released without the vocals by Kenny Loggins or Terri Nunn you can hear in the movie. So it is still not possible at the moment to fully recreate the complete film soundtrack! I also have seen the external link given here for Rain Man is broken/password protected now. So here's a playlist... Rain Man > OST 1. The Belle Stars – Iko Iko > OST 2. Johnny Clegg & Savuka – Scatterlings Of Africa Score 1. Drive From the Country Score 2. Empty House / Charlie's Memories Score 3. Drive to Bank and Wallbrook Score 4. Leaving Wallbrook > OST 5. Ian Gillan and Roger Glover – Lonely Avenue Score 5. Traffic Accident and Aftermath Score 6. Train Crossing / Walk Don't Run / Farmhouse > OST 3. The Delta Rhythm Boys – Dry Bones Score 7. Putting Ray to Bed Score 8. On the Road > OST 10. Lou Christie – Beyond The Blue Horizon > OST 9. Rob Wasserman with Aaron Neville – Stardust Score 9. Las Vegas > OST 4. Etta James – At Last Score 10. Charlie Tries to Hug Raymond > OST 6. Bananarama – Nathan Jones Score 11. Smoke Alarm / Freaked / Baby Burn Score 12. Pancakes / My Main Man Score 13. Train Station Goodbye Score 14. Rain Man End Credits
  5. No, not exactly. It is as I list it, but the "Carrier Takeoffs and Landings" sounds like "Danger Zone" because in the film it has vocals that are missing on the CD. I went through the film yesterday to confirm my playlist. 1-2, 1-4 and 1-14 all have Kenny Loggins vocals at some place or another. 1-10 has humming throughout that's missing - which makes it a completely different piece of music than what we hear right now. 1-11 has Terri Nunn vocals. That's why the whole "Love Theme" section on disc 1 right now sounds so long and tedious - because they stripped it of all variation.
  6. Should not be that difficult, here's the list: 1-1. (Sittin’ On) the Dock of the Bay - Otis Redding 1-10. Mav Says Goodbye to Charlie > 2-7. Heaven In Your Eyes - Loverboy 1-11. Love Scene 1-12. Mav vs Viper 1-13. End Locker Room and Photo > 2-13. Great Balls of Fire - Jerry Lee Lewis 1-14. Aerial Sequence 1-15. Goose's Death / Memories 1-16. Mav Reflects in Goose's Room / Board of Inquiry / Charlie and Mav in Airport Bar 1-17. Viper's House Pt. 1 1-18. Viper's House Pt. 2 > 2-9. Destination Unknown - Marietta 1-19. Carrier Ready Room and Takeoffs 1-20. Mav is Launched / Mav Bugs Out / Mav Returns to Battle / Return to Carrier > 2-17. Radar Radio - Giorgio Moroder feat. Joe Pizzulo > 2-14. You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’ - The Righteous Brothers > 2-2. Mighty Wings - Cheap Trick Sadly they scrubbed the vocals from all "Danger Zone" and Love Theme related score tracks. So it is not really possible to recreated the film score anyway. I get they wanted a clean score presentation, but in this case the vocals are such central part of the soundtrack it does not really make sense to me. I've been waiting 38 years to get my hands on the "Main Title" - but for me this release in that form is only near perfect and not the holy grail I was hoping and waiting for.
  7. The first CD of the 3 CD release actually is the 1994 OST. The second CD contains mostly film related stuff similar to the OST. So if you want more music from the film, it's not totally pointless IMHO. The thrid CD contains new music that has nothing to do at all with the film (except tha some motives from the first two CDs reapear now and then...). If you like Vangelis, especially his "The City" you may enjoy it, but it has no value in terms of film score. It's sure better than not having any BR music at all - however the whole BR music situation still is a total mess. It's no way even near complete, and most music (especially on the CD 1) is spoiled by dialog from the film, by overlapping beginnings/endings or by not beeing the same version or edit as in the film. Sad!
  8. You don't have to. I use a programm called CDex for ripping, which in "Full Paranoia" mode double checks and checks each disk access and repeats reading until it is convinced it read correctly. Takes a bit more time than with other programs, but in the end you can be sure you got a flawless rip. Or if the program actually tells you it could not read the disk properly, then you know something has really gone wrong. Btw. my WotW CDs both ripped without any problems. However this time the case was totally crushed.
  9. OK, I just compared the title tracks from the original OST, 2016 OST and 2016 complete score in Audacity. The OSTs are practically identical, the complete score is bit lower overall but actually also seems to have more dynamic range. For example when comparing levels in passages 3:25 min. vs. 3:52 min. Well, I guess I'll stick with what I have already. No need for the remaster, whatever direction it actually might be going in the end... I does not seem to make a really massive difference anyway. Thanks a lot fot your feedback!
  10. Yes, exactly. The compressed OST part seems to sound better than the complete program uncompressed. This is not about the 1991 OST, this is just the OST part on the 2016 set. He also writes: "This compression seems to be the dominant choice for mastering these days..." ...as opposed to 1991! For me this sounds like the 1991 OST is uncompressed! And going back to the 1991 volume and EQ for me seems like the 2020 should be uncompressed as well.
  11. That's not what is said in the Roger Feigelson quote from above. He said: "What these guys are noticing is that the complete program is presented with the natural dynamic range of the original recording. The CD program is compressed...", refering to the 2016 release, if I got things right. And the 2020 release is said to go back to 1991 Levels and EQ settings, which should be uncompressed...?
  12. Sorry, I am still a bit confused. So the 2016 release hast the complete score part (aka "complete program") uncompressed and the OST part (aka "CD program") compressed? And the 2020 hast the OST part also uncompressed - I hope I did get thir correct? That would mean if I already have the original 1991 OST plus the 2016 SE there is hardly any point in getting the 2020 release? If I am interested in uncompressed music that is... Thanks for any information or clarification!
  13. Exactly. It ripped without any problems or errors, but the MP3s then had pitch sounds and static in it. Over time I had several of those and the patterns were always the same. And this was years after release and they still tried to sell that garbage... But I wanted to own that release - so I was persistent...
  14. Yes absolutely. There definitely was a faulty mastered Batch out there. I had to reorder several times from Amazon to get working CDs.
  15. Thanks for your recommendations. I'll Keep them in mind... I got Russia House not that long ago regularly from Amazon. It's a pity it became difficult to get. About the complete issue: not sure there. But I seem to remember reading somewhere that JG for Russia House actually wanted a shorter release, but in that case the Company overruled him. So it *might* be quite complete. If there is more music then this one really calls for the EE-Treatment!
