How many people here consider themselves JW completists?

ALL of JW's arrangements are over the top. Where a normal arranger would use one woodwind run JW uses about 62. Where a normal arranger would stop at flutes and plucked violins, JW adds in a harp, a celeste, a piano, a glockenspiel, a "jeu de timbres" (whatever the hell that is), two electric pianos, and God only knows what else...

"Jeu de timbres" is the French name for a sort of glockenspiel operated through a keyboard, which sounds similar to celesta. It was used by Ravel and Messiaen (e.g. in the Turangalila- Symphonie, in whose score it is just called "timbres"). In Williams' scores, I guess it's a fancy way to say "celesta".

Well, what ever nice words you say to me, it doesn't change the fact that the main theme isn't that good. The chord progress is weird and the melody line is not interesting. I can easily name at least 100 better main titles by Johnny and it doesn't help that this theme is in every fucking track in the ost.

I can confirm that @hornist's Dracula CD indeed is great! :) Btw hornist, what do you think about the Korngold album conducted by Lionel Newman?

Oh I forgot to answer you, it's great!! I need to listen to it more, not very familiar with Korngold's music. Just played his violin concerto, nice horn solos.
