Koray Savas 2,260 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I think that's purely a case when a TV series makes the plunge to film for the first time. Even so, that hasn't happened for anything major in decades, unless you count stuff like Pokemon: The Movie.
Ollie 1,375 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Well you're going to a theatre to watch it and the previews make it clear, what else do you need?
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I suspect teenagers these days don't even know they're at the theater.I've yet to see one watch a movie in one!
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Yeah, but these new teenagers aren't even doing fun things while not watching a movie. They are staring at their screens! Also back on topic, what are the odds the American trailer coming out Tuesday will have Michael Giacchino's music over it?
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 blume you failed on Star Trek the Voyage Home, they do indeed Voyage Home, it gets a check mark.and clearly in 1979 Star Trek the Motion Picture was title such because it was a tv series going to film, which was a very very rare event at the time.
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Oh...you're right Joey. I forgot the whole Bird of Prey flight back!
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 it was all based on Spock's guess which Kirk trusted more than most people's facts. BLUMENKOHL 1
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 New clip from the movie: [Edit] Going from the clip to looking at the terrible images in the news right now, something tells me Into Darkness may get delayed due to its story.
Wojo 2,458 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I hope all our Boston friends and their loved ones are ok.
Brónach 1,330 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Do I have your attention now?I don't think they'll delay the film. It's an expensive one and distributors fight over release dates.
Wycket 36 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 How would a bombing in Boston effect the release of a science fiction movie about humans and aliens traveling around the galaxy? This film will not get delayed, nor will any other. Its a tragic event, but unless something larger unravels I severely doubt any movies will be delayed because of it.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 The public goes ape shit over anything remotely similar to real events in the media. Phone Booth was delayed like a year because of the Montgomery County snipers. Gangster Squad wasn't only delayed, but rewritten and reshot because of the Colorado theater shooting.Regardless of what it is, I'll never understand the need to censor artistic expression because something similar just so happened to occur recently in the real world. It's a movie.
Ollie 1,375 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 The last Batman film didn't delay it's premier. They respectfully toned down the pomp and circumstance but the film still opened on time.Going by the previews, Iron Man 3 would face a similar issue as well, but Trek is a month away from opening so I can't see them putting the brakes on a big summer flick.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 What happened that would cause The Dark Knight Rises to have been delayed?
Brónach 1,330 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Nothing, because the Dark Knight shooting happened in a theather when the film had already been released. Unless he's referring to something else.On STID: I have read some spoilers and things and the story of the film doesn't seem to be simple and I can't quite figure it out. I wonder what's going on in the film
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 New domestic trailer was supposed to be out today.Possibly not at this point.
Jay 46,245 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Well, here's the new trailer! I'm at work so can't listen, can someone please comment on the music used?
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Finally! The trailer we have all been waiting for!Music was decent as far as epic trailers go. Not giacchino. The movie looks visually majestic.
Jay 46,245 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Looks like a fucking awesome action-packed thrill ride!I'm sure all the long-time Trekkies will be referring to it as STINO though....
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Watched it twice. After three utterly disappointing teasers trailers I can finally say: LOVE IT!
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 the boston bombing should not effect any of the summers film releases. there is no apparent connection.
Jonesy 55 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 WOW! This one is more exciting than the previous trailers.
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 My god...that new Starfleet ship...is...big. Looks like an Excelsior met the Sovereign Class (Enterprise-E) and had an American sized baby.
Delorean90 47 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Wow, what is even going on...looks like it could be quite good. I'm definitely done now, though; no new videos until I actually see the film.
Brónach 1,330 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 I seriously hope that "I'm sorry" line is not out of context because it's awesome.
Wojo 2,458 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 So the new Enterprise wasn't big enough, they had to create a Starfleet ship even larger. These filmmakers clearly chose the wrong era of Trek to dabble in.
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 I wasn't aware the new enterprise had a set size.It seems to shrink and grow scene to scene.
Jay 46,245 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Awesome fan art by Paul Shipperhttp://paulshipperstudio.com/blog/2013/4/16/star-trek
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 That's the best fan poster I've seen by far.
Brónach 1,330 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 I wonder if the "Darkness" in the film is an actual thing.
Delorean90 47 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Paul Shipper is awesome. I remember seeing his art on Indiana Jones fansites over the years.
Rachael Foley 10,164 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 I'm sure all the long-time Trekkies will be referring to it as STINO though....?
Rachael Foley 10,164 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Abrams films have more likable characters than any of the TNG films.
Ollie 1,375 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 This was my most anticipated film of the summer before this trailer, I think I may have Cumberbatched my pants.
Rachael Foley 10,164 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 This was my most anticipated film of the summer before this trailer, I think I may have Cumberbatched my pants.meaning?
Ollie 1,375 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 What happened that would cause The Dark Knight Rises to have been delayed? The Aurora shooting at the midnight showing last year.
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 This was my most anticipated film of the summer before this trailer, I think I may have Cumberbatched my pants. You didn't like it?
