indy4 159 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Each year Classic FM users vote for their favorite film scores, and a list of 100 is compiled. Here's the one for 2013:http://halloffame.classicfm.com/movie-chart-2013/chart/p/100-51/#pieces-98-89
Not Mr. Big 4,831 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Not too bad. I was afraid something like Inception would take #1. SafeUnderHill 1
Quintus 5,756 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 The Hobbit shouldn't be in the top 10. Joni Wiljami 1
Quintus 5,756 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Ludicrous but expected. These sorts of things are always populist.
Quintus 5,756 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Just because Middle Earth is already well covered in the top spot, no other reason. It's not like they also featured Temple of Doom as well as Raiders. As I said, it's just pop lists.
Wojo 2,458 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 If it's voted on by users, they have short term memory. They know the latest scores they bought and listen to the most, and might not emphasize the classics.
Marian Schedenig 10,322 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Whatever happened to showing lists in a list format?
Ollie 1,297 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Perhaps we should do our own top 100 list.I'm serious.
KK 3,310 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I'm surprised Saving Private Ryan makes it so high on Classic FM's list, especially given that these are the same voters who put scores like Inception and PotC above the likes of ET, Close Encounters, Raiders, Superman, etc.
gkgyver 1,647 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Chronicles of Narnia by HGW on #40?What a list ...
Sharkissimo 1,976 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Tells you more about the listeners than anything (hint: it ain't good).
Koray Savas 2,256 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Perhaps we should do our own top 100 list.I'm serious.I vote for Joey to spearhead it. I think his system for JW scores worked well.
indy4 159 Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 Whatever happened to showing lists in a list format? You can show 5 times the advertisements when you have to go through 5 pages to view the entire list
Marian Schedenig 10,322 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Except I'll just stop reading and thus not generate more hits.
JoeinAR 1,955 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 what a fucking joke. Star Trek 2009 is rated higher than Star Trek the Motion Picture. The list failed. Hanz Zimmer's score inception is rated higher than Jaws, OMG what a shitty mess.the most laughable of all is Lord of the Rings at #1.
KK 3,310 Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 the most laughable of all is Lord of the Rings at #1.Right, cause that's definitely the most controversial and stupid decision on this list...
Ollie 1,297 Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Not enough Goldsmith, Rozsa, North, there are Williams scores that don't deserve to be ranked and the order is suspect.Where's 99 & 100?But hey their opinions are just as valid or as sane as the one tossed around on this website.
Quintus 5,756 Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 the most laughable of all is Lord of the Rings at #1. Right, cause that's definitely the most controversial and stupid decision on this list... Whilst I'm all burned out on LotR and its score's power has diminished somewhat for me, I still appreciate its greatness, it's herculean achievement within the medium. It has every right to the top spot as much as a number of other scores in the list. Code 000. Destruct. 0. 1
Naïve Old Fart 11,834 Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 "NXNW" at 98???!!!!!!!!!!Don't worry: the average Classic FM listener has the attention span of a very small goldfish, so next year's top-10 will contain stuff that is equally trendy, and as equally emphemeral. Joni Wiljami and Sharkissimo 2
Quintus 5,756 Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Get with the times dude! Don't you realise we're almost a parody now?
Naïve Old Fart 11,834 Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Chicken satire, with peanut sauce. Yum, yum!
