  1. Well I only know Garritan, so I can't compare it to anything. What can I say, some samples sound really great others - not so much. I think the flute and solo strings sound pretty good, whereas trumpets and horns leave much to be desired.
  2. Hey I want to buy Celebration Fanfare then, but only if i know how it sounds like first Haha I don't know if I've ever seen a listing for that. If it is a signature edition then there isn't a recording aside from the REAL recording.
  3. Haha that isn't the half of it. When I upgraded to the complete Finale I was like WOAH! OPTIONS!
  4. Notepad is pretty limited, you can only have 8 staves, no key changes, no time changes, and doesn't have the Garritan Personal Orchestra library that the complete versions of Finale have.
  5. Paul Lavender is a professional arranger of concert band music for elementary school thru college level ensembles. He arranged this version of the themes, probably for marching band. This is NOT an original recording by Williams, it is a Hal Leonard studio band performing the arrangement in order to give buyers an idea of what the piece they are ordering will sound like.
  6. It is a real band, Hal Leonard has studio orchestras and concert bands that record some of their peices in order to sell them to the buyers.
  7. The Horn Concerto is great, but its obnoxiously difficult. The only movements I can play without trouble are the Nocturne and Pastoral, the others require a LOT of work.
  8. The idea of bootleg scores had originally bothered me, sort of like bootleg movies did (and still do). But when I realized that there was such a wealth of great music that could be made public from bootlegs then my morals against them sort of dissapeared. I don't have many, but I find I enjoy these bootlegs even more than the original album releases in some cases and would rather listen to the bootleg! Maybe thats why the music business doesn't like them... Oh, and you're welcome Josh, I hope you're enjoying it!
  9. A complete BOTFOJ? Never heard of that. What is it? A bootleg? It is indeed a bootleg. A pretty darn good one though, if you want I'll send you a link for it.
  10. Empire Strikes Back or the complete Born on the Fourth of July.
  11. I'd love to hear other recordings of music from Nixon. I really want a score or something for The Turbulent Years!
  12. I agree on the film version too, I believe its better overall and fits the scene better. I'm looking for a copy of the booklet from the RCA version of A New Hope if anyone has scans of it.
  13. For me the whole Massapequa, The Early Days cue is one of the most beautiful individual cues I've ever listened.
  14. Well, surelly if you play the Cello, you know someone who could acompany you at the piano... Just an idea. And everyone, check you PMs for the Bass TRombone an Piano version of the Tuba Concerto. Miguel, please could I also ask for the mp3? I only know the orchestra version(s). Thanks in advance! Cyrill Yeah, definately get me in on that too! I plan on doing the Horn concerto for my senior recital, thats still 3 years off though! But we make recordings of everything we do at school, so if the board is still around in 2010.....
  15. Haha, well they were used copies. But in like new condition, you can't even tell Missouri was even touched by someone before!
  16. I had a pretty good and unexpected haul at a local cd store today! Missouri Breaks - $4.99 The Lost World - $4.99 Amistad - $2.50!! Batman - regular price.
  17. Haha well if no one else pops up witht he scans I'll bring the score back to school with me next week and scan it for you guys.
  18. I actually own the score and parts for this piece, it is indeed in 4/4 and I am not sure off hand (i'm to lazy to go in my drawer to look) but I believe the piece is in B Minor. I don't have a scanner available so I can't scan it and send it to you, but I believe some other people here have scans of the score.
  19. Good Musician, I may sound like a dork...but that actually made my eyes water.
  20. well i know that there is a horn solo in the movie that isn't in the track "bearing the burden".
  21. Adagio is a wonderful piece and I don't think that something like it is out of Williams' reach. In fact, I think that Arlington from JFK comes pretty close. The mood is much closer between those two pieces than anything from BOTFOJ.
  22. I wonder when the rest of the program will be announced?
