  1. Enjoyed that and agree with the writer's premise 100%. Thanks for posting it!
  2. Not familiar with this one at all but generally love Kamen's work. I'll probably pick this one up,
  3. Correct. I grew up on DC characters. Love Superman and Batman. I want Superman (the character) and any films to be drastically different from Batman. While I enjoyed Batman Begins and The Dark Knight (didn't like the third at all), I can't imagine wanting a Superman film even remotely similar to those. By the way, I find the Nolan Batman films to be VERY overrated. I think people hype them simply for their claim to creating Batman in a "real" world. I hope Man of Steel is good. I've loved this character for as long as I can remember. I like the fact that he used to be the impossible ideal of what people could only dream to achieve (and I'm not talking about his powers). He represented a hypothetical "best" version of us as human beings, yet he was an alien. I'm not sure I want a Superman I can relate to. In my mind, that kind of defeats the purpose of the character. Then again, I'm sure most would consider me more than a little naive and antiquated in my view.
  4. I asked him via Twitter and he confirmed he made some tweaks and changed the title. My phone is being difficult and I can't paste the link for some reason, but you can read on his twitter feed. Any time I see a composer post a picture of their iTunes library, I think about all the other goodies it probably contains.
  5. I'm not kidding. This is my favorite score of 2013 so far. His variations of the Giacchino main theme are fantastic. This should definitely be released officially. Love it!!
  6. This is really good stuff. I'd really love to get my hands on the complete score for sure.
  7. Wow!! Excellent work. Thank you so much for tracking this down.
  8. I really love the Superman Returns score. I don't care for what he did with Can You Read My Mind but it's a score I return to frequently. Then again, I grew up watching and listening to the Christopher Reeve films and music more than anything else so hearing Ottman using it was nice.
  9. I do wish that London Calling were a but longer for sure, but I still find it beautiful.
  10. This set is easily one of the Crown Jewels in my score/soundtrack collection. I love it. Ken Thorne did have a really nice take on Williams' material and Courage's score to Superman IV is fitting of a much better film. Also, the Ron Jones stuff is nice. Of course, this version of the first film scode is the definitive presentation. This is one I would not miss for sure.
  11. Generations was a mess but at my age then, growing up watching TNG and seeing the Enterprise-D on the big screen...I loved the experience. Kirk dying like he did was incredibly lame (in Generations).
  12. I've listened to London Calling probably ten times today. I've fallen in love with that cue.
  13. Independence Day Is wonderful. One of the most memorable scores from my teen years.
  14. Indeed. I keep hoping it will get an expansion. I also love his score to What Dreams May Come. I find it reminiscent of Robin Hood at times. If he hadn't replaced the Morricone score, I think his would have been much better received. I really like it and think it is generally underrated.
  15. That's awful. How in the world could they think THAT was an improvement?
  16. All Good Things is great. And the closing scene...wonderful.
  17. Armageddon is a guilt pleasure favorite. If it were on TV right now, I'd be watching it.
  18. Giacchino just posted this: http://telly.com/BKR1I8 Nothing dramatically new or different - End Titles it sounds like - but session audio/video nonetheless.
  19. Had time to kill while out of town and saw Olympus Has Fallen. There were really no other options. It was fun. I like dumb action movies sometimes and this one did fine for that. It was also more violent than I expected. If some NK communists somehow managed to attack the White House, I'd want the response to me merciless. One thing that was odd was that exterior shots of the White House and White House grounds seemed strangely claustrophobic and "small." Overall, a harmless evening of mindless action.
