I've really started liking irish music (particularly folk) but my playlists are kind of limited. I usually listen to The Dubliners, Pogues and various folk songs. Anyone got any Irish music-tips?

would be awesome if you could film a bit during any recording session! -

I definitely see what you're saying... and in some moments different scores/themes/cues sound a bit the same. don't know if I agree that the non-thematic cues aren't very interesting, though! haha!

I really think the british composer Rachel Portman deserves some recognition in here! I've heard people call her style "girly"... I don't know about girly, but her style is definitely defined by all her upbeat, funny, happy, sensitive scores. She hasn't composed too many scores, but she's still one of my favorite composers. Her score for The Cider House Rules is my absolute favorite. Anyone enjoying Portmans music?

http://www.aftonbladet.se/nojesbladet/klick/article14295274.ab this may be old news to you guys, and the article is in swedish but... Chaos at 'The Hobbit' Recording The producers behind "The Hobbit" requested extras for the upcomingblockbuster. There they received. Three thousand of them. The next big film "The Hobbit" - a prologue to the wildly popular "Lord of the Ringare" films - filmed right now in New Zealand. The producers just went out and searched for extras for a scene. They wanted men who were under 164 centimeters long, women below 155 centimeters, and normal long men and women with "characteristic faces." But they underestimated the interest. More than 3,000 people showed up to a car park in Lower Hutt outside the city of Wellington. - The longer the day was, the longer the line was. Eventually it began to cause problems on a highway next to it. People slowed down and looked at the crowd, said organizer Chris Ryan to the New Zealand Herald. The situation was getting out of hand and the production was forced to call the police. No person shall have been harmed, but the search for extras will now be managed via the Internet.

hp-dh part 2, definitely. I almost think lily's theme is the best theme in the series since hedwig's. -
Great scores ruined by the context of their films.
alicebrallice replied to Not Mr. Big's topic in General Discussion
totally agree with you. I listened to the score before I saw the film, and I was extremely disappointed. the score definitely made the film better, without it the film would've been total crap. the film didn't ruin the score for me though, it's still one of my JNH-favorites. -

I'm not a big powell fan, I do however love the how to train your dragon score (shocking!). listening through the mars needs moms score atm... not too bad, kind of reminds me of HTTYD. -

http://www.lastfm.se...MONIC+ORCHESTRA Does any of you know if this is like a tribute-thing or will Hans and John actually be there? I was extremely surprised and happy when I saw this today, and even if it's just a tribute I'm sure it'll be amazing.
