  1. It might just be people from JWFan. But we have so much knowledge, and it's spread out all across this forum... a wiki would be such a good home for it!
  2. Yeah, the part you originally asked for is still mostly not there. Haha. Hopefully the list will inspire more people to contribute what they know!
  3. I do like Williams albums/scores that have some variety to them. For example, his "kitchen sink" approach from Temple of Doom, and Prisoner of Azkaban. The case with Banning Back Home is less clear cut due to the adult contemporary smooth jazz easy listening nature of the piece, but if you do enjoy it, then you can enjoy a more varied listen. Incidentally I was kind of glad with the Deutsch release that Banning Back Home was still present, but suddenly shorter
  4. Hooray for JOHN WILLIAMS!!!! Can't wait to see him 2 weeks from today!
  5. Where's @Holko! He's good at this stuff... https://www.jwfan.com/forums/index.php?/topic/27619-finished-chamber-of-secrets-thematic-and-originality-analysis/
  6. I enjoy it for what it is, but it certainly falls squarely into the "easy listening" category. Much like some of Williams' 70s source music. I think a fan of Williams' usual sound could be forgiven for skipping this track.
  7. If we get 5 Cameron movies, I doubt anyone else will be able to find a compelling way to create even more Avatar films, even based on his story ideas. These films rely too heavily on his unique brand of movie magic. I hope we get a good conclusion at the end of Cameron's series, so any followups can be safely ignored.
  8. I guess we can assume the non-Mutter version is the piece that was nominated and won, since the title is just "Helena's Theme". But do we have any other evidence of this?
  9. To get us started, here's a framework to help keep track of all the Williams/Mutter material, including recording and release dates for comparison to live performances. I included all the officially released tracks that I'm aware of. I'm not very familiar with the unreleased early/revised alternate arrangements, so I'll fill in any info that others are able to share. Please let me know if you have anything else to add, and I'll update this! Questions: - Am I missing anything that was officially released? For example, any alternate arrangements that came out on the Vienna or Berlin releases? - What unreleased alternate versions (e.g. from live performances) do we know about? 10. Thanks for going to the trouble, @danbeck! Last time, weren't there some theories about other ways to calculate the results? I don't feel like my 1st place deserves double the points of my 6th place for example, or 10 times the points of my 10th place.
  11. I'm thinking Friday just because I might want to hightail it over to the Newport Jazz Festival for the rest of the weekend. I wish I knew their schedule in advance though.
  12. If we got anything from ToD, it would probably be that! And I'd be excited for it!
  13. Yeah it's too bad we don't get Film Night in both Boston and Tanglewood anymore. When there used to be multiple Film Nights in a row, they were always the same program, from what I can remember. So I guess we all have to pick one this time, or else see the same concert twice. I might just do Friday.
  14. So we at JWFan have a responsibility... to complain more, and louder!
  15. It doesn't give any other details. But I bet if you're logged in at that time, it'll let you attempt to buy tickets on the site.
  16. That would be a nice change! He loves doing pieces from every single other Indy film, so it seems like ToD might come up again sooner or later. If I got to choose, I'd throw Mine Car Chase in there
  17. The official onsale is March 19 at 10am EST, but the email I got says "As a previous ticket buyer, you have exclusive access to tickets starting March 18 at 10 a.m." Something for everyone to be aware of!
  18. Jurassic Park live to picture is coming to Tanglewood! https://www.bso.org/events/jurassic-park-2024 Sat, Aug 17, 2024, 8:00pm EDT Boston Pops Orchestra Keith Lockhart, conductor
