  1. The interesting part was that John Williams remained quite polite, merely stating, "It's interesting, I'll think about it," in response to the interviewer's suggestion about the chase music being influenced by the vehicle (whether a tuk-tuk or a Mercedes). This contrasts with a more dismissive response like, "I don't think it's that relevant". Do you think John Williams would compose distinctly different music for a chase involving a motorcycle, a Tatooine speeder, or a Tuk-Tuk? I doubt it. It depends on several factors, but not solely on the vehicle itself, I believe.
  2. An now, here's a piece from Raiders of the Lost ark: The Colonoscopy Theme.
  3. One thing strikes me, despite the efforts of someone like Denève, for example, to program 'Three Million Light Years From Home-Stargazer-Flying' just to be different, we see that Williams persists in programming the perennial 'Adventures on Earth'. I guess at 92, he's set in his ways!
  4. Ah, okay, I understand now. Denève conducted the first part of the concert, which is why the Blu-ray program seems odd.
  5. I'm not familiar with the entire program of what was performed in Tokyo, but the Blu-Ray program seems a bit weak to me. Was the concert so bad that in the end we only get an 'old-fashioned' 1-Album version of it?
  6. Finally, it's a Discogs++, minus all the bullshit. I LOVE IT! What is lacking in Discog is a sort by Date (and you need to offer a SORT BY DATE, but the all the dates, the date of the recorded material featured, and the date of the actual release). DATES, WE NEED THE DATES!
  7. Seven Years in Jumanji High Road to Tibet First King Kong in the Moon Nice!
  8. A great production? On the contrary, I think this film should be cited as having benefited from anything but a great production! I think what you meant to say is that, considering the genesis of this film, it could have been much worse. Indeed.
  9. It's a more serious subject, after having made a film about Napoleon.
  10. Like in 'Trust me, it's true, or I'll shoot you with my big cannon.'
  11. It's canon, in the sense of canonical. The term "canonical" refers to works or elements within a body of literature, art, or religious texts that are considered authoritative, authentic, or standard. In various contexts, "canonical" denotes adherence to recognized principles, norms, or standards established within a particular domain or tradition.
  12. I think Intrada should offer us a monthly subscription plan so that we can subscribe to 'Inchon'. This way, each year, we could receive the latest edition.
  13. Somewhat begrudgingly, as it seems there won't be a proper extended version announced of The Phantom Menace to mark its 25th anniversary... let's listen to this peculiar disc, which should be taken somewhat like an "Isolated score," but on CD. In the absence of bread, one resorts to cake, as my grandmother would say!
  14. I'm not a musician (at least not a professional one) and I'll express myself in non-technical terms, but I've always noticed, first in Star Wars, that John Williams had a fascination for rhythm. Whether it's carried by percussion or even in the "notes," in a more subtle way. All this to say that I'm delighted that real specialists have delved into this aspect of John Williams' art because, truly, for me, the way John Williams sounds "rhythmically" is 100% part of why he's my favorite composer!
  15. Although it's not perfect, there is a lot of work behind this video, and in some parts, I literally had tears in my eyes (e.g. when he mentions Hook) because he explains in not-so-complex words (even for a non-professional musician like me) WHY WE LOVE John Williams. I liked the ending a bit less, where he laments that John Williams' latest soundtracks bring fewer innovations, stylistically speaking. My friend, we'll talk about it again if both of us make it to 90, about the evolution of our 'style' hehe. "It's not because I'm an old apple tree that I give old apples." - Félix Leclerc (translated from french: « Ce n'est pas parce que je suis un vieux pommier que je donne de vieilles pommes. »)
  16. Personally, as an old TV series watcher who watched almost every episode of the 92 seasons of DALLAS back in the 80s... Well, some seasons were good, and some seasons were SOOOO BAD, one in particular, that in the next season they 'ERASED' it, saying 'Finally, the last season was a nightmare by one of the main characters, it never happened haha!'... I tend to be more forgiving when a series relies on a hastily scribbled script thrown together at the last minute before shooting, hehe. But I agree, Game of Thrones began with so much promise... and yet, some plots were wrapped up too quickly and hastily in the final seasons.
