  1. I don't know who's aware of NIGHT SKIES and who's not. I imagine most of you are, as you're all Williams fans, which eventually traces back to Spielberg in some way, shape or form. Anyway, here's some info on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_Skies In short, it was apparently going to be E.T. minus the Reeses-eating, doe-eyed alien and kids who were jumped up on Pepsi Cola. Well, related to this, Rick Baker, the badass SFX artist, recently posted an image of the NIGHT SKIES alien on his Twitter page. Here it is: https://twitter.com/TheRickBaker/status/469494395813638146/photo/1 Shame this film never came about. I really enjoy Williams's score for E.T., but can only imagine what he would have come up with for a darker version of the film.
  2. I like the Sarah Silverman poster. Wouldn't mind it being on my ceiling.
  3. OBSESSION (Herrmann) YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE (Barry) VERTIGO (Herrmann) THE FURY (Williams) BODY DOUBLE (Donaggio)
  4. I'll only buy my favorite films on Blu-Ray. I'm done buying DVDs. Criterion's ALL THAT JAZZ 4k Blu-Ray is next on my list.
  5. Agreed. Only one of his I enjoyed listening to. STAR TREK f*cking sucked. That guy will never match Goldsmith or Williams, but people are convinced that he's on the same tier. I remember what really threw me off of Trek was five minutes in when he tried pulling the exact same shit he did on LOST. It was that moment when I realized most of his music was pretty interchangeable and didn't offer anything new. The way people seem to put him on a pedestal reminds me of Bond fans thinking David Arnold's music is in the same league as John Barry. That interchangeable music is the ultimate sign of laziness in a film composer. Although John Williams recycles cues and motifs here and there, he crafts the music for the particular film, so it could work the best in that film. Composers like Giacchino and Arnold seem to dig the music out of bins. Generic shit action cue here, generic shit romance cue there. And to think that some people on unnamed sites would slit your throat for saying John Barry was light-years better than Arnold.
  6. I have Netflix. It's good for watching TV shows. There are a handful of decent films on there, though. I'd say that you're not missing too much, Sharky.

  8. Agreed. Although, I suspect it won't be as radical as the earlier ideas, or some of that fake concept art that merged a human and a dinosaur. Since the concept for this sequel is already completely stupid, it wouldn't hurt adding these dinosaurs to the park:
  9. Very sad news. Brilliant cinematographer. One of the best, actually. And another artist who was constantly snubbed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. I love his photography in the parking garage in ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN, the winter scenes in THE GODFATHER, PART II, along with INTERIORS and ZELIG.
  10. 24. Vincent Gallo on Sofia (and Francis Ford) Coppola: “Sofia Coppola likes any guy who has what she wants. If she wants to be a photographer she’ll fuck a photographer. If she wants to be a filmmaker, she’ll fuck a filmmaker. She’s a parasite just like her fat, pig father was.” hahaha
  11. Not Benny. Hitchcock: "Well, come around when you get hungry." Herrmann: "I’ll tell you something. When I get hungry, I go to Chasen’s."
  12. Jupiter I hate when "epic" is used to describe things, but that music is truly epic.
  13. THE LONG GOODBYE Been humming it since I staggered home this morning. "Marlowe in Mexico" is a pretty good track from that album.
  14. I agree that GET CARTER was great.
  15. There are probably 50-year-old men in the world who bought that and played with it.

Thanks, Sharky. That's it. Around the 10:00 point.
