  1. Oh, that would've been brilliant! Wow. Just imagine that...
  2. Hmm... William Shatner interviews Michael Giacchino... Haven't watched it myself, but there it is for ya.
  3. The clips of him from the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special remind me of Sleepy Hollow.
  4. I felt Gambon's Dumbledore was portrayed too much like an old woman. Especially in his movements, and most particularly the way he'd walk around holding part of his robe, like he was a woman holding her skirt so it didn't drag on the ground. Really annoyed me. There's more but that's the big one that jumps to mind. He seemed to do it less and less in the last couple of films but by then I didn't care for him as Dumbledore.
  5. Listened to about the first 2/3 of the first disc. Fabulous stuff! Great classic Jerry Goldsmith scoring, excellent sound quality (IMHO). Tons of stuff not previously released, different versions than the OST. WELL worth it, IMHO. After reading the booklet, I LOVE that one of my most favorite musical moments in the score was "improvised" in the studio by Jerry. The moment when everyone's staring at the main viewscreen on the Enterprise bridge, transfixed by Sha-ka-ree, and unseen to everyone is the Klingon Bird of Prey on the sensors... and the brief little quote of the Klingon theme right there, just blended into the score at the moment, just so perfectly (after it was felt the threat from the off-screen Klingons wasn't quite noticeable enough). Love it.
  6. Yes! Was so disappointed it wasn't the theme when I watched the premiere. The marketing push for Enterprise's premiere was great, really well done, very effective. Sadly, Enterprise didn't really deliver on the promise of a brand new, completely different style, modern take of Star Trek that was initially hyped to us. Oh well. Still enjoyed it overall, apart from the TNG episode at the end of it all.
  7. My copy's here too! Looking forward to settling down in a bit and reading, with Jerry's music filling my ears.
  8. Anxiously awaiting delivery... which'll probably be on Monday. *sigh* I'd love for once to be lucky and have mine show up before the weekend so I can enjoy it on my down time. I'm trying to be patient. The samples were great to hear, lovely to finally hear some of the previously-unreleased music at last without audio or fx. Should've been playing this OST back in 2008 while my wife and I were at Yosemite, but didn't think of it at the time. Oh, well. (Did remember to listen to the "Somewhere in Time" soundtrack last year while staying at Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island! ) ETA: Dang. Not in today's mail. *sigh* Guess I gotta wait til Monday. Oh well. Just not my week, is it...
  9. Source It's pretty crappy, IMHO. Dwin de dwee, dwin de dwee, dwin de dwee, din din dindle dwin de dwee, dwin de dwee...
  10. Ordered! Now I want it in my hands. And in my CD player. And on my computer. And on my iPod. I'm guessing on past experience it'll show up here on Monday. I never seem to get these by the weekend to enjoy them on my time off. Oh well. As long as I get them. Thanks again, LaLaLand Records!
  11. I think people don't want to miss out if it's a fast seller like Predator was a few months back.
  12. The Lost finale was simulcast in various countries along with the US. Had the Monday been a day off in some way, we'd have arranged to be up to see it. Interesting, I didn't know that. I usually hear about such things, but I totally missed that one. Maybe because I completely gave up on that show a few years back. I'm glad companies are finally starting to learn how global and connected absolutely everything is, and maybe one day we'll see the elimination of things like region-coding on DVDs. (Yeah, as if...)
  13. Cool, thanks guys! Loved that score!
  14. How reputable/legit/etc. is a place called Quartet Records, out of Spain, I think? They look legit, just haven't heard of them before. Anyway, reason I'm asking is... Yellowbeard Always had a soft spot for this film, plus it had a nice swashbuckling soundtrack from Mel Brooks' usual composer John Morris.
  15. SO glad they're showing it same day! (Even though I don't have BBC America personally...) Is this unprecedented? A fictional series episode being shown same day in different countries? I know live events like concerts and sports are obviously shown in different countries at the same time, but a fiction series? (Not counting US-Canada situations, of course.) Not sure I can recall hearing anything similar. A few days apart, yes, but not same day. Which I think they should stick with for Series 6, 7, 8, etc...
  16. Don't mince words, Bones, what do you *really* think?
  17. from http://www.intrada.n...php?f=12&t=3774 Dang that sounds kinda familiar but I can't place it!
  18. RIP. Thanks for the films. And thank you also for your granddaughter Giada.
  19. Legally, officially? They haven't announced it yet, AFAIK. Odd, that. We did get the Specials CD roughly a month later than the UK, so I would guess about the same lag. Would've been ideal to release it same day as the Series 5 DVD was released here, but then that would make sense and we all know sense is a foreign concept for most companies. You can still order it from places like amazon.co.uk, but of course then you have higher shipping costs, etc. It's not like it's a region-coding thing.
  20. He certainly considered himself as such. Excellent, good one!
  21. Yikes. The awkward consequences of European vs US calendar date writing conventions...
  22. Sad news. As a fellow trumpeter and a film score fan, I've always held him in high regard. Even though he'd been retired for a few years, he will still be missed.
  23. Sigh. Well, that's disappointing and not unexpected. Plus the bit about the director offering Part II to Desplat... also disappointing but not unexpected. Just hope the scores are at least good in their own right, musically speaking.
