For any one who is into Goldeneye, be sure to check out Le Femme Nikita's score. I didn't see that mentioned. All of John Barry's Bond music is such a high achievement in film scoring. But that doesn't have to make them my favorite.

Serra's Goldeneye score get soooo much undeserved hate. It really baffles me how people can think it's that bad. I personally love it. It's definitely in my top three, alongside Casino Royale and Thunderball. I really like the comparison to the "cold war, snowy sound", I never looked at it that way. Favorite cues would have to be Overture, WSTSP, and Fatal Weakness. FW is such an awesome tension builder with that driving industrial edge (this was back when industrial was more relevant). WSTSP and That What Keeps Us Alone feel like throwbacks to the Barry sound, with their more sweeping melodies. Run, Shoot, Jump is such a ballsy action cue. Explosive as hell. So much energy for a minute of a track. I sort of clump Serra's work with Graeme Norgate and Grant Kirkhope's score for the 64 game. They both share a lot of similarities, you can tell they took inspiration from the film score there. Like MrJosh I was really young when both those came out in the mid-late 90s, so that sound takes me back to a certain period of life. Just my two cents. Goldeneye is an excellent, unique score. Opinions are like like assholes. So there.

Regarding the Star Wars Original Trilogy Sony re-releases...
TheDarkOrb replied to TheDarkOrb's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
There have been mentions that Sony ran it through some sort of process that enhanced the clarity slightly. Anyone else have opinions on this? I am considering replacing my old RCA releases that I have owned since 97 with this > http://www.amazon.com/Music-Star-Anniversary-Collectors-Edition/dp/B000VEA38E/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top Quotes regarding the 2004 Sony release off Amazon... 2007 reissue of 2004 release... -

Jurassic Park cue list and complete score discussion
TheDarkOrb replied to Datameister's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Is the beginning of "Eye to Eye" not used in the film? From the cue list it looks like it was to appear during the first stop at the T-Rex paddock. It sounds like it was re-written for the beginning of TLW. -
Alien 3 / Sphere anyone?

Raiders of the Lost Ark: DCC or Concord?

I thought I had heard something like that somewhere else in a Williams score. -
Raiders of the Lost Ark: DCC or Concord?
TheDarkOrb replied to Datameister's topic in General Discussion
Oh gosh does did anyone else notice how beautiful "Reunion in the Tent/Searching for the Well"'s ending is? Just those last few seconds... wow. Such a nice little moment. -
Eric Serra's score for Goldeneye is brilliant. Boo hoo. Graeme Norgate and Grant Kirkhope definitely took some notes from it, because I hear alot of nods to it. I happen to have an excellent extract of it from the game in case anyone is interested.

John Frizzel got his Alien Rez score re-released? Huh... Never did hear about that news. Something else to add to the X-mas list.

I don't hear any hiss. The sound levels are low. I have to crank it up to hear it.

Is it just my defunct copy or is anyone else experiencing low volume level on the Attack of the Clones soundtrack release? I compared the Main Title to TPM and ROTS and it seemed lower. Why?

What's the thinking behind releasing SYNTH demos? AND making us pay a full album price for them? Doesn't James Horner know about this? How could be possibly be OK with this? I want answers!

Anyone know why the new cues released in the deluxe iTunes version sound so.... off?
-
I dig the OST version of "YDDIC...." too. I do have Quaritch Speech in mine though. I love the little synthies.

King Mark: Post your custom play list, exalted one. I'd like to see what you did.

Really looking forward to what the 4 disc version is about. Recording sessions? Does anyone here know how the tracks from the promo differentiate from the album tracks? How does the album and promo version of "YDDIC" differ? Anyhow, the promo does need slight amount of editing. There is too much space of dead sound at the beginning and ends of some of the tracks. I'm thinking about omitting the mono tracks too. A real shame though, I remember watching the film and being mesmerized by the piece when the bug lands on Nytri's bow (Pure Spirits of the Forest on the promo).

Interesting observations by FSM's Lukas Kendall

I think once CDs finally cease to exit as the source of their revenue, we'll start getting longer/complete/extended releases online. Disc space will no longer be an issue. In time.
