  1. I had to pass on that one. I have to save some money as "Dad" is still on my want list, as well as Goldsmith's Alien & Poltergeist. Quartet Records re-release of Cutthroat Island too. Not to mention the future release of How To Train Your Dragon 3 Deluxe Edition :-D No release date yet but hopefully coming soon.
  2. I'm not complaining. I'm observing the difference between these two scores, sound wise. I tend to prefer Hook to Mask Of Zorro on that pure technical, personal, sound preference. I love to spot some "studio noise" here and there. Makes it organic and alive.
  3. Listening to the "When You're Alone (instrumental version)", I was wondering where this came from ? Is it just a previously unreleased concert version? Can't get enough of this Ultimate Edition!
  4. Listened to the 2 discs until 3am last night. 3rd disc today. Simply amazing ! The new stuff I was completely oblivious about, paired with an unprecedented sound quality took me totally by surprise. So much so I shed a few tears. An Ultimate Edition worth of its name, without a doubt. The booklet was very informative and really generous in that regard. Third CD is an amazing discovery. One of which you can't even dream of, given you'd have to know it even exists. I didn't. Can't thank Mike Matessino, LLL and everybody involved enough for this long awaited grail. So happy to own it and to be able to support this kind of release. Now I just wish I could forget it so I could experience again the roller coaster of emotions I went through when listening to it for the first time. Because that's what it was for me : A completely and unexpected rediscovery of a beloved score I though I knew so well.
  5. Listened to it this afternoon. So great to finally hear these new tracks ! Now, don't get me wrong, I think this is a great release and aside from the "W" missing on the first page of my booklet I love it. But, yeah there had to be a "but" ... the transition from the amazing stellar sounding of the "Hook Ultimate Edition" to this score made me realize the sound quality is not as detailed and rich as the aforementioned one. I don't know if it's due to the original sessions (recording/setting artistic choice) ... or even a creative choice during the remastering process but I find the sound to be a little bit "muffled". It sounds very good, but when you compare it to the 2023 Hook Ultimate Edition, or even to another Horner, 2019 "Project X" mastered by MM for LLL there's a bit difference. It doesn't breathe as much. I don't know about you, but I tend to find old analogic remastered recordings to sound way better than many "modern" digital recordings.
  6. It's among my Horner top 5 favourite scores. In his "straight to the heart" kind of work. The inclusion of the original OST in disc 2 is a very good thing as it's a very different edit compared to the film mix on disc 1. And you get to have "Casper's Lullaby", a cue recorded specifically for the 1995 album release. A beautiful, nostalgic, haunting theme which makes me shed a tear every single time. Tech wise, the sound is amazing on both discs and the 1995 album has been remastered. As usual, Mike Matessino did an amazing job.
  7. It's a total discovery for me. I had never listened to the 2002 album before getting the complete presentation from Intrada. Based on the history behind this release I thought it would be a must have. And boy it is! The action pieces are, indeed, quite fierce. I think the next and only Horner score to be that aggressive was Avatar with the "War" cue. The dynamic range is huge. Intrada says in the liner note they didn't use any dynamic compression and gave us what the sessions sounded like. They delivered! A must have for Horner fans.
  8. Hi guys, I've been listening to Rombi since "Love me if you Dare" which is a beautiful romantic classic score : https://youtu.be/nRoYCdu1zwk?si=8OCr9g2UQ6YhYgdH I love the way he arranges the orchestra. Another beautiful score of his : "Joyeux Noel". The first track is obviously temp tracked with Zimmer's "Thin Red Line" but once you get to the rest of the score it's pure Rombi : https://youtu.be/VSdkhnKELOA?si=a1-1UEgh0YnFHEW-
