  1. The HD-DVD version isn't much better. The film seriously needs to be remastered. Strangely enough, I always thought Excalibur was shot in 2:35 : 1 but apparently the original ratio is 1.85 : 1. They didn't even do something against all these artifacts? That's really disappointing. The movie definitely deserves a better treatment.
  2. Next is sitting on my bedside table; have started to read it, but it really didn't intrigue me, so I postponed it for now.
  3. I'm reading "Evolution" by Carl Zimmer and "The once and future King" by White. Both of them are enjoyable...
  4. I can hear that sound, but it's really only so subtle that I had to specifically look for it (maybe my hearing capability is diminished ;-)). I doubt that I will get a headache because of that.
  5. Almost forgot that; neglected that CD a bit because of the Indy box
  6. Yeah, I liked it too. Had fond memories of the film and its music (though it's a bit too electronic for my taste). Bought the DVD afterwards, but that was a real disappointment....the worst picture quaility ever...
  7. Too bad that I will probably not receive my Batman CD before I fly home for Christmas. But I am still waiting for Merlin and Golden Compass, so there's something to look forward to...
  8. The Indy box, no question. I also enjoyed the scores of Prince Caspian and the new Mummy movie and quite a few other releases.
  9. I agree. His soundtracks are (usually) a nice collection, but Williams tends to leave out pretty much all the small moments that I like best. Sure, it makes some sense to pick the longer, better-developed cues, but in many cases he even chops off the (in my opinion) best parts of these, and he sometimes ignores arguable highlights among the longer cues in favor of less interesting pieces. But I am inclined to forgive him
  10. I'm watching Conan the Barbarian. The post "battle of the voices" inspired me...
  11. I enjoyed it too, but I was maybe 8 when I watched it last. So I guess I might have a different opinion today...
  12. I too know what you mean by that... Edit: paleo, weird that USPS has lost two of your packages. I guess I'm lucky, they have yet to loose one of my packages. Well, maybe it's just the DC section. I could see that one of the packages arrived in Washington, but it was simply not delivered. Fortunately I had ordered from Amazon, so I was reimbursed.
  13. I know what you mean. Hope the Canadian postal service is better than the USPS (which lost two packages for me this year!)
  14. Well, I decide very carefully when to do a "panic purchase," or when to buy CDs in general (and I think most people who took part in the run on Batman today do it the same way).
  15. I'm tempted to buy Millennium as well; but I'm afraid that will have to wait (in other words, it will be gone by the time I decide to buy it...)
  16. Finally got it, too. Hope I was quick enough to get an autographed copy... But great to have it anyway
  17. Ahhh, it doesn't allow me to order; says website cannot be found. Hope they fix that soon!
  18. True, particularly compared to something like CutThroat Island (I recommend "Setting Sail": that's swashbuckling, and, imho, much more appropriate to a pirate movie). But many people seem to disagree
  19. I agree; have to watch that movie again...
  20. Darth Vader wins, but Freeman is good too.
  21. I'm not going to replace my collection of DVDs; they work very fine for me in most cases. Exceptions are possible; so I could imagine getting Excalibur if it is ever released decently (the DVD looks so horrible).
  22. Oh, are there different versions? I bought mine from Intrada (with bonus tracks).
  23. What about Willow, Merlin, or CutThroat Island? Well, can't be in London at that time anyway
