  2. The bootleg is a year old. Before the FSM Podcast! I'm confused, but I'm probably wrong. I wish I could upload a file for somebody with better understanding of the score than me.
  3. Thanks, care to tell me any place in the ToD DVD rips that has FX to compare with this version? On the British Army DVD Rip I was told there was FX impossible to remove, yet on that bootleg it's all music.

  5. POST EDITED: This forum does not support torrent sites or allows any links to them! Please read this! 1:31:12 , 16 tracks with two alternates of FX-free expanded ToD. There is a second CD with tracks that aren't FX free. The source is almost the same as the FSM Podcast, it's just a little less dry and more "wet". I just compared the two. I might just be dreaming, but this is a half Holy-Grail unless everybody had the same quality already. The older bootleg I had of ToD was really crappy, so this is a giant step forward.
  6. Not sure if this is the place to talk about it... I downloaded a torrent over at ******* It's the same source as the FSM Podcast 100% for sure. It's got Anything Goes without the singing. Water! is of great quality, with just a little added reverb. I mean it's minuscule, it almost feels as the bootleg was recorded with mics at the real source playing in a room. There's no FX at all.   7. The problem with Home Alone 2 is that it's web-distributed, part of the Soundtrack Club. There is a very limited reach in terms of marketing. Once the "soundtrack fans" have heard about the availability, you won't get any more sales. Just compare that to other Varese expanded CD that aren't part of the club (Aliens, Total Recall, Omen, etc..). Indiana Jones expanded scores would be available in stores.

  10. William Fraker likes to shot in a sorta gelatinous soft. And he was Spielberg's #1 effects DP after Close Encounters (having worked as the effects shot DP for the movie). Or rent the Exorcist II to understand his style, it's beautiful. 1941 is beautiful cinematography, you just dislike the look. I guess it's not the Transformers?

  12. I went through all 10 discs of LOTR in one shot (while working) and it's incredible. But seriously those score companies, they know that 2007-scores haven't sold well. For the sake of their business, they had to take risks and get older scores for profitability reasons. We all end up winning in the end
  13. I always wondered if, thematically, composers would probably do write passages even if they have no movie to score. They probably do intense intellectual research, listen a lot, make notes, etc... Classical composers do that in between ordered works per example. I don't think they would start from scratch every darn time, they sometimes bring stuff they've worked in-between scores. Other composers might like the intense on/off work, but I'd guess like anybody in the field of arts, you can't do that all the time. Stuff will appear in your head and you might be doing a work for a score, you have to note it or remember it.

  16. Vangelis is somebody who's pretty bizarre in the world of movie music. All his work is often done in real-time, adding layer upon layer of synths. He doesn't write or knows how to read music. Antarctica (bootleg and official) Blade Runner (2CD bootleg and official) 1492 Chariots of Fire L'Apocalypse des Animaux All essential Vangelis. But note that he has SO many unreleased stuff, he doesn't like to release his works. Instead he releases compilations, like Portrait, Themes, Themes II and Odyssey.
  17. Best way would be to replicate it via midi, and use about every controller or modern software to try to achieve the good instrument / instrument combo
  18. The animated Asterix are really good. The early ones (the recent ones since a decade are so-so) are exactly what Uderzo and Goscinny wanted. The voices are perfect...well in french. The animation in it's simplified form match well the panels. The live-action movies are "okay". They are ADD-based entertainment. Fun, witty, cute. Nothing more, except that both have the two most beautiful woman on earth (Belluci and Laetitia Casta). A live-action Tintin would be much more dark and realistic. Even gritty. About half the Tintin books are gritty. The color palette is not flashy at all.
  19. I hope ROTK's complete soundtrack is not a hundred bucks, I bought the first complete score but I passed over paying over a hundred bucks for 3 CD of music. No way I will do the same for the last movie. Shame on them for increasing the price for the same packaging.
  20. Yeah I saw both of them (not the animated movies), Les Oranges Bleues and La Toison D'Or. They are too caricatural and silly. I would prefer too a live-action, gritty period movie like Spielberg can do (Munich, Minority Report, SPR), not light-warmed at all. It would add alot to the story, especially the last comics that Hergé did. They were gritty (even with the typical silliness of comic book action). And I really agree with you, those two books are made for a Peter Jackson live-action movie...
  21. I really think that Spielberg could make it work, but not as a CGI thing... screw that. He should do it live-action in the style of Munich. Just look at what he did with Munich, make it a little less serious but keep the gritty style and you have the perfect setting for a vintage Tintin. Realist action, some dark undertone (latter Tintin had dark stuff, it wasn't slapstick). Tintin et les Picaros, Vol 714 pour Sydney, l'affaire Tournesol, those were mature and really Spielbergish. I do hope they try to do one of the book instead of a new story. Jackson is perfect for Les Septs Boules de Crystal / Le Temple du Soleil (it's a double story).
