  1. That rumour has been debunked. Then whomever debunked it lied to you, 'cause I have two exceprts from interviews where he talked about it. I have heard this too, but then Howard Shore was asked about it 2 years ago during his visit in Cracow and he claimed he had been PJ's first and only choice, so apparently somebody doesn't tell the truth.
  2. This, after all, isn't an official news, isn't it. It says exclusive, but they never mention the source. Anyway, I am sure Newman could score this movie properly and we might have a very pleasant score from him. Still I would like Arnold to return, though.
  3. The Adventures of Tintin, War Horse, W.E., The Greatest Miracle, and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. I still haven't listened to The Artist, which, I suppose, will eventually be the winner.
  4. My problem with MG is that he has already been there, but he seems to have lost "it" a few years ago. Out of his recent film scores only Super 8 seemed to be a step in right direction. (I still haven't heard his new M:I score, nor the snippets from John Carter).
  5. Obviously, some Michal Lorenc's soundtracks must be mentioned here. Prowokator - Ave Maria http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwPRIUgAN54 Psy II - Wieczory 300 mil do Nieba - Droga http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNTvUpsDcVU
  6. The scores are back in place As for meeting Abel, he is really nice and forthcoming guy. Plus he writes terrific music, so I keep my fingers crossed for him having another lucrative project. As for W.E., my initial impression is positive, but not as much as I expected. I'd prefer something less minimalistic. I definitely must give it another listen though. There are parts which are utterly beautiful.
  7. Although for most of the time it sounds like background, elevator-kind of music, it's Shore's most pleasant scores in years. I don't mind its french flavour at all, neither did I on Tintin. After all that positive reviews, I now really consider watching it in theatre.
  8. I haven't read his review yet, but I don't find War Horse a five-star score. I like it a lot, but I think 4/5 is adequate rating.
  9. I listened to HF2 and it's preety good. In terms of writing, it's much lighter than HTTYD, thus more enjoyable for me, but it lacks equally interesting thematic basis.
  10. Kilar's (mostly unreleased) score for another major Holocaust movie,The Pianist, is hardly a masterpiece.
  11. As for me, most of his early jazz/TV scores could be attributed to that category. I hardly can stand 60s Williams. From his most recent output I'd say Always, Saving Private Ryan and to some extent War of the Worlds and Sabrina. (I am not familiar with Stanley and Iris) Definitely not Cinderella Liberty nor Sleepers, as far as I am concerned.
  12. Me too. The movie looks now more like a Dreamworks production than Pixar.

  14. They've appreciated Jason's effort to maintain proper notation of the character's name.
  15. Do uslug. BTW This cat should have done solos on Tintin.
  16. I don't know if this has been posted somewhere here already, but I just watched it and I think it's preety hilarious and brilliant at the same time.
  17. M. Night Shyamalan? George Lucas? Both to some extend.
  18. RATATAOUILLE apes Williams at every corner (DINNER RUSH!!!!) I would't go that far saying that, Yet, I believe it has more sense to compare and discuss two scores that are relatively similar in many apects. Otherwise it's apples vs. oranges all over again.
  19. For me, Powell's music is way too often like Williams' busy action cue, but played 2 times faster and with some additional percussive stuff added. It consists of some trully interesting moments, which, unfortunatelly, are lost in frenetic and loud underscore. It goes from one thing to another within a matter of seconds and it doesn't let all those things develop nor allow listener to focus on them. It's basically a music for ADHD generation. That's way I prefer Tintin over HTTYD. Better poll IMO would be: Ratatouille vs Tintin. In that case I'd say Giacchino is the winner.
  20. I am quite sure T. Newman could pull this off, but since I am sort of a big DA fan (and not so much of TN), I hope he gets the job again and will be allowed to write theme song. I believe working with director like Mendes could reinvigorate Arnold, who is still capable of writing preety good original scores (check out his comedy scores which often consist of great Bondesque moments, sometimes even better than the ones in the Bond pictures).
  21. It's still uncertain that Arnold is doing Skyfall. He even admited it on Twitter today, that he doesn't have this job yet nor knows whether he eventually gets it. This doesn't work in his favour, if you ask me.
