  1. Since there have been a lot of "favorite Williams (insert musica genre here) theme", I was thinking that I could post something a little more interesting... I searched the forum for this, and I haven't found anything, so here it goes... Anybody knows how John Williams style is exactly? For example, I have noticed one thing of his style: The false endings of his themes. Just like in classical music, when it thinks it's going to end, it keeps going and ends in a much better way. But I'm asking in a more musical theory way, if anybody knows... Thanks in advance.
  2. You complain about John Williams not going to Europe in eleven years? Well, guess what! He has never come to Argentina, and probably never will... I don't blame him. I think he hasn't ever been on concert on South America.
  3. According to Upcomingflimscores, Hans is going to score "Sherlock Holmes", which is coming this year... In my opinion, this is a terrible choice, because Sherlock Holmes should be represented with the good ol' jazz...
  4. How about a light-hearted version of "The Throne Room"? With some kazoos could be fun
  5. Great news! But are you sure it will featured this year? Because on the article it says: "John Williams will be composing a piece for us... He just hasn't told us when" or something like that...
  6. Fellas, I found what could be a far better orchestral recording than the City of Prague Orchestra. Check this out: http://www.amazon.com/gp/recsradio/radio/B...agSuffix=dp_img Click on the second music sample It sounds really similar to the album version, but with some minor differences. What do you think? It's totally real or not? If it is, I'm impressed.
  7. I don't really mind if he doesn't compose any score this year, because I'm preety sure next year we'll get something... And I'm not talking about Harry Potter only
  8. I think a perfect example of the different types of spanish accents is featured in the dubbed version of Disney's "The Jungle Book". For those who understand spanish, here's a video of the part of the vultures: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9gSo3kun8Y...feature=related And you may ask... Which is which? Ok, based on this photo... The one who is conducting has Spanish accent (from Spain). And the others three (from left to right) : The first one has mexican accent, the second has argentinian accent and the third one has cuban accent, if I'm not mistaken. Hope that helps a little.
  9. OK, I'll try to start tomorrow with Part 1, if you don't have any problem with that
  10. I can help with the translation, at least a little. Maybe we could split the work in chapters and then someone revises it, to correct any mistakes....
  11. If Williams is going to get inspiration from other stuff from his, I would really like something in the style of "A Legend is Born" from "The Terminal", maybe in a more fanfare mood... But I really think Williams will be able to come up with something really surprising. If the movie likes him, I'm sure he won't any troubles with the music... And remember Jackson will surely be checking out about this. He'll surely won't admit another Raiders March. Hope he doesn't reject Williams, like Howard Shore... Just kidding
  12. Hi, everybody! (Hi, Dr. Nick!) I need for a project I'm working on a horn effect that appears, for example, at the beggining of the action part of "The Raptors Appear" of TLW. I need, if possible, variations of it in different scales. I don't know if I made myself clear. If anyone could help me I would me more than grateful. Thanks in advance.
  13. I wonder if Williams will compose something specially for the trailer (like in "Harry Potter" and "Jurassic Park") or if they will use library music...
  14. Of course yes! I'm really excited about "Tintin", "Lincoln", "Interestellar" and the two "HP and the Deathly Hallows" films, if he scores them, and I'm preety sure he will, despite what some pesimists say... Always look on the bright side of life, right?
  15. Hi, everybody! First of all, I don't know if this has been discussed before, but the forum is too big to search for it. Sorry if it has. Here it goes... We all know that "Battle of the Heroes" is a dramatic version of "Duel of the Fates", but which do you like more? Personally, I can't decide yet... Both are too great. I'll think about it and vote later. But how about you?
  16. Great news! It's always great to hear some new stuff composed by Williams Yeah, what is this show about?
  17. I don't know if this has been discussed before, but as Giacchino is scoring "Land of the Lost", I entered the official site of that movie to listen if there were any recorded music... And the result was not very pleasant, because it was ALL SYNTETHIZED. I hope those were just demos, because I would be really dissapointed if it wasn't done orchestrally. Anyone know anything else?
  18. It seems that filming has finished. Now the animation process will take 18 months: http://filmonic.com/spielberg-hands-tintin-jackson Great news! Maybe Spielberg can dedicate time to "Lincoln" and make it arrive for christmas...
  19. Another interesting film for Williams to score, apart from Columbus "Percy Jackson", would be the upcoming George Lucas project: "Red Tails". Here's some info about it: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0485985/ Although it's not directed by Lucas, the story and the producing are his, so he could suggest Williams to do the score... What do you think?
  20. Hi, everybody! Recently, checking the Hans Zimmer board to find out who composed what in the first POTC sountrack, I found the answer! Check this out, it seems preety precise... http://www.hans-zimmer.com/forum/viewthrea...5065&page=4 As a basis of my analysis (along with the ASCAP - BMI credits) : the Demo written by Hans Zimmer 01 - Fog Bound (2:17) Track by Klaus Badelt First appearance of Hans Zimmer's POTC Theme from 1:49 to 2:17. The ambient design is by Mel Wesson 02 - The Medallion Calls (1:52) Track by Klaus Badelt & Ramin Djawadi 03 - The Black Pearl (2:16) Track by Klaus Badelt & Steve Jablonsky 04 - Will And Elizabeth (2:08) Track by Steve Jablonsky & Ramin Djawadi Using themes by Klaus Badelt & Hans Zimmer's POTC Theme (0:17 to 0:39) 05 - Swords Crossed (3:15) Track by Klaus Badelt, Steve Jablonsky & Geoff Zanelli From 0:09 to 0:47, a second theme by Hans Zimmer 06 - Walk The Plank (1:58) Track by Klaus Badelt & Ramin Djawadi 07 - Barbossa Is Hungry (4:06) Track by Klaus Badelt & Geoff Zanelli Both Hans Zimmer's themes are used from 0:37 to 1:05, the POTC Theme is also used many times in the track 08 - Blood Ritual (3:32) Track by Klaus Badelt & James Dooley 09 - Moonlight Serenade (2:08) Track by Klaus Badelt, Ramin Djawadi & James Dooley Hans Zimmer's first part of the Demo is used (as it was arranged by Hans) in this track from 1:14 to 2:08 10 - To The Pirates' Cave! (3:30) Track by Klaus Badelt, Ramin Djawadi & James Dooley Same here (track 9 & 10 are only one cue, cut for the OST), Hans Zimmer's Demo is still used, so is the POTC Theme, used twice (1:29 => 1:35 & 1:59 => 2:20). His other theme is used from 2:20 => 2:39 11 - Skulls And Crossbones (3:23) Track by Klaus Badelt, Nick Glennie-Smith, Geoff Zanelli, Ramin Djawadi From 0:00 to 0:15 is another theme by Hans Zimmer (last part of the Demo). The POTC Main Theme is also played here. The Drop Zone Theme, used by Hans in the demo, is played in this track (with a few changes). 12 - Bootstrap's Bootstraps (2:38) Track by Klaus Badelt, Geoff Zanelli & James McKee Smith Hans Zimmer's POTC Theme is used twice in this track 13 - Underwater March (4:12) Track by Klaus Badelt, Nick Glennie-Smith & Blake Neely Hans Zimmer's Theme is also used twice 14 - One Last Shot (4:46) Track by Ramin Djawadi Using themes by Klaus Badelt and the Hans Zimmer Main Theme 15 - He's A Pirate (1:30) Track by Klaus Badelt & Geoff Zanelli The first half of the track is the Hans Zimmer Main Theme (0:00 to 0:38), the second part contains Klaus Badelt's themes (0:38 to 1:30) ------------------------------------------------------------------- Really interesting, isn't it? It has also has a lot more.
  21. Hi, everybody! Recently, with a bit of nostalgia, I was remembering the old Disney films from their golden age, like "The Jungle Book", "101 Dalmatians" and "The Aristocats", and those three coincide in that the composer was George Bruns, a great incidental composer. His style makes me remember of those John Williams action scenes, where the music by itself doesn't make a lot of sense, but matched perfectly with the film. Here's his IMDb profile: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005980/ What do you think about him?
  22. Great news! I hope someone can record it so we all can hear it. Those who go and stay with Williams after the concert, could ask him about if he has began composing anything new for his future scores... Like Tintin
  23. 3 stars. It's OK, but the heavy sintethizers make it painful to listen. If it would have been 100% orchestra (or at least, 10% ), it would have been far better. But... Zimmer clones just keep using synths as much as they can. And I guess we will never know what Badelt composed for the score. We know what Zimmer did, for "Pirates, Day One" in the Soundtracks Collection, but... Badelt? By the way, have you noticed that the love theme from this movie starts and sounds exactly like Shrek's love theme? Which isn't that suprsising, considering two of his "students" did the score.
  24. Thanks, everybody! This has been really helpful If I can't find one of those CD's you posted, I'll have to do a compilation myself.
  25. Great news! Although it was preety obvious, it's great to have a confirmation (Tries to play the Star Wars theme on the trumpet, but due to the too high notes plays the Jurassic Park Theme )
