  1. http://www.veritaserum.com/media/2005/01/0...kingofpoa.shtml what's the music tracked into video #8?
  2. I see your points, though I don't agree 100% with it. IMO a composer can have more than one "big period" in his work and those could be liked best by different people. I was just interested that would a poll like this work.
  3. In addition to the JW career slump thread... It is clear that his style have changed through these past few decades, though it has been top quality all the time. But when was his Golden Era? It would also be interesting to have a top 3 of these as well. And the reasons why? One or two specific favorite scores or his overall style? Mine would be: 1. 1989-1993 2. 1979-1983 3. 1999-2003 S.B. ps: if you say the 5 years You like best are not in these (the periods I chose are pretty 'mechanic' with the dates), like 1977-1981, please write that in your top 3!
  4. Congrats, PJ and Mr Shore IMO the score won deservedly, but the movie didn't. As I said before I think it was the weakest of the three, but I have high hopes for the EE. I would rank them: TTT EE I was surprised to see what a huge improvement it was FOTR (EE) I like the theatrical version just as much TTT ROTK As for the scores, I really can't decide, they're all great. The song also won very well deserved. As for the movie, I'm still happy that at least one LOTR movie revieves an award,. S.B.
  5. Thank's for the help, guys! I only remember seeing Alien, Total Recall, Planet of the Apes, Rambo and Star Trek. I never heard of Patton or Blue Max. It seems I'll have to sit down and watch quite a few of these older movies as well, if I can get my hands on them. Could you write down a few words about these movies as well? (Yes I know there's imdb but I' woul like your opinions.) Looks like Mr. Williams's movies are much more well-known, at least to me. S.B. Sabrina (John Williams) I just love the score and the film too...
  6. Probably there was a similar topic on this before, but as I am quite new to film scores (my first soundtrack CD was HP&SS, since then I have about 20 of them, mainly JW), I was wondering... What are the Jerry's , say best 10 scores, that are worth buying? I only have The Mummy which I think is good but a little too repetitive. And buying Star Trek: TMP is on my to-do-list. Thanks, S.B.
  7. Movies: 1.) Finding Nemo No comments on this one. I was simply amazed. 2.) X2 Probably the best comics-adaptation I've seen. 3.) LOTR:ROTK I consider myself as one of the few who think ROTK was the weakest of the three. Though this might change with the EE. But it's still a wonderful movie. 4.) Catch Me If You Can (I saw it in February ) 5.) Master and Commander I didn't want to see it because of Russell Crowe but I won tickets for it so I watched it and thought it was very good. 6.) Bruce Almighty I havent seen Peter Pan, Big Fish or Last Samurai, these haven't come out here yet. Scores 1.) LOTR:ROTK Best of the three CD-s, but weakest of the three scores (all my favorite cues are on TTT CD which I think is the least listenable cd of the three). My favorite cues are tracks 3,4,5,19 and these are my favorite scenes in the movie as well. 2.) X2 3.) Matrix Revolutions
  8. POA has a $200 million budget and GOF is definitely longer and much more epic, so I'm not so surprised. I'm more worried about the director.
  9. They will make one movie, and they don't want it too long. I'm expecting a three-hour movie. at http://www.sundaymail.co.uk/news/content_o...-name_page.html They said "... the fourth Potter film will cost 170 million pounds, 5 million pounds more than Return of the King,..." So ROTK costed more than Titanic? I thought the three LOTR movies TOGETHER costed about 300 million dollars, not ROTK alone! New adult covers for the HP series: http://www.mugglenet.com/pics/adultcovers.shtml
  10. And The Goblet of Fire will be the most expensive movie ever made.
  11. Hi again, everyone An interesting POA set report from http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/setreportpoa.html Quote: TLC: Dan, if you stay on for the fifth book, how are you going to handle Harry?s moods in those books? DR: What we?ve done in this one, which I think is quite daring really, the Harry you read about in the fifth book is the Harry we kind of portray in the third film. He is incredibly angry in this one. Just full of teenage? TLC: Angst? DR: Thank you, I couldn?t say that word for a second, angst. So he is an incredibly angry character in the third film. I don?t know, I think a lot of people could be shocked, I don?t know. I think the fifth book has prepared them for it slightly. It?s just different. It was also confirmed that the movie will be under 2 1/2 hours. S.B.
  12. I saw Finding Nemo this weekend. It was probably the best animated film I've seen in the last quite-a-few years. It's pure genius! I find it ridiculous that it came out on DVD in the US earlier than it came to the theatres over here I also saw Start Trek Nemesis on video. It was nothing special for me, I expected it to be a bit better.
  13. I think the CGI Yoda looked ridiculous in AOTC. Puppet Yoda was great in the original trilogy, and I agree with Morn: it was even better in TPM.
  14. Agreed. The Grint-Watson pair were SO much better in PS (IMO perfect, especially Watson), than in the second movie. Radcliffe had a few bad moments (like his smile at the end of the quidditch match) in PS, but also a few GREAT moments... like in the scene when he finds out Malfoy also got detention, the expression on his face is priceless! He got better in CoS and let us hope he gets better and better
  15. I refuse to believe that ROTK will be as low as TPM. As for the sound clips, they are GREAT! This may be the best of the three, at least the best of the CDs. One more week and we find out... The Extended Editions are great, but it would have been too much in cinema. (actually, I only saw FOTR:EE, TTT:EE comes out here in a few days - is it a BIG improvement?) When did they stop making intermissions in movies? The sixties? (I have no idea)
  16. According to the Guardian: http://film.guardian.co.uk/features/featur...1084297,00.html Thoughts? The Wachowski brothers are in, and Mr. Spielberg or perhaps Peter Jackson not? How many of these guys do you know well? What are recent must-see movies from them? What are not-so-recent good ones from them? Sirius, who saw Gangs of New York and Kill Bill and doesn't think they are bad but not exactly masterpieces.
  17. Of course not It wasn't my big discovery anyway, since I haven't read Macbeth in English before, I too just read about it somewhere. Actually, I read it after finding out the connection. How well-known is this quote in English regions? (I mean int he US or UK)
  18. I think most of the list is perfectly beleivable. Some of the changes (the technical ones, not the new elements and new scenes) are acceptible IMO. Most of them ARE ridiculous, but are also believable because of what we seen from Lucas in the past few years. A too prefer the Original Edition, but I'm not sure whether the 1997 edition or this one would be better. (I hated the new elements and scenes in the Special Edition, but at least these are going to be done technically better in this one, and with connections to the prequels). Yup. Exactly as in http://jwfan.net/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&f...655124a155bf0da Sirius, a bit taken aback by how few people read his posts.
  19. Joel: I agree 100% with everything you wrote. The Halloween scene would be awsome like that. Seeing the trailer again (and again), getting a good look at Lupin, he is a bit weird to me. He's not at all as I imagined him. But he's still good enough Sirius - humming the choir piece - it's so catchy!
  20. I just LOVE the trailer and the new music for it! Can't wait for the movie! Mr. Williams and Mr. Cuaron My comments on the choir are at the Williams and Azkaban (spoiler for the movie, not for score) thread.
  21. I still haven't seen Finding Nemo (not in the theathers yet). Is it really THAT good? After seeing the trailers I thought it was fun but nothing breathtaking. I agree with Stefancos: ROTK will be THE film of the year (though I think TTT wasn't as good as FOTR, all interviews say ROTK was THE film PJ wanted to direct in the first place, and believe anyone who says this will be the best part of the trilogy). Sirius - who also thinks this was a bad year for movies, and X2, though had a few flaws, was the best one so far, and also liked Heartbreakers.
  22. I always imagined Moody as Anthony Hopkins. As for the other ones, I'm not quite sure. I don't know SO many British actors. Actually, these movies are really good showcase of them for me. I mean almost everyone who counts gets a role in them! After seeing a photo of her at IMDb, YES! Definitely! Could be, maybe she's not too old. After all, Fleur is 17, Kiera will be 19 or 20 when filming GoF. And after all, the actor who played Tom Riddle (16) was over 20 in the last movie.
  23. The score was amazing, but not one of the best even in the past few years.
