    Ditto!

And I also find that the near-chronological listening experience with the smaller electronic cues placed in the main programme actually works very well and gives some breathing room between the lengthier orchestral pieces.

Those electronics didnt do much for me so I pretty much stuck to the main program. But do you think the promo version on disc 2 is a different mix than the one on disc 1. Because I think Disc 1 sounds better. Haven't really done much of A & B comparason.

True, but at least we have the LSO performance of that one in pretty great quality.

It would be nice if Williams followed up that Skywalker Symphony album with a new compilation featuring his modern Star Wars concert suites, even some of the prequel ones (the choirless ones would be easiest, I guess). He's already written nine new suites in the last 4 years alone:

    • Rey's Theme
    • March of the Resistance
    • Scherzo for X-Wings
    • The Jedi Steps
    • Jedi Steps and Finale (with two different endings)
    • Adagio for Strings
    • The Rebellion is Reborn
    • Han Solo and the Princess (Revised)
    • The Adventures of Han

Plus all his new music for the theme park (which hopefully gets released commercially) and whatever new suites he composes for IX. Not to mention his new violin arrangements for ASM, including Across the Stars and Luke and Leia.

Neat idea. But I think he may do this after Episode 9 wraps up. Once the 3rd Trilogy wraps up he should revisit these last six films as a follow up to his Sony Album.

  3. Me too. This would be an instant purchase. I only wish the revised 'Han Solo and The Princess ' had been included in the program. Also wondering if 'Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra' is also the revised edition.

    P. S. Do you think this was recorded on video. It would great if this turned up as a blu ray release like the previous Dudamel Williams Concert only this time the program titles are more my type.

  4.  I'm speechless. Robert Townson is a legend to us film music fans. I don't know how hard his departure will affect the label. But we owe tremendous gratitude and admiration to him. He is truly a pioneer in the film music production arena. Wishing him all the future success.

At least as a parting gift we will see the last produced batch of Varese Club titles by Robert in February as well as the RSNO/McNeely Recording of VERTIGO and Goldsmiths LA CONFIDENTIAL on Vinyl.

  5. I've started my journey to upgrade to UHD. First I ve just bought a Samsung UHD /HDR 10 enabled TV set and have started buying the blu ray disc's. But I need to buy both a compatible 4K UHD AVR   and a blu ray player next. Had my eyes on the OPPO 205 player but sadly OPPO has discontinued their Blu ray player. So Iam considering Pioneer.

Any recommendations on the next as good as OPPO player?

No Alhambra release? No vinyl release with the free one-sided single? No standalone single release with picture sleeve? No POPS IN SPACE, with the first available recording of INSIDE THE MOTHERSHIP?

azahid, my friend, you're slipping :)

LOL just saw your post One year later. I have BY REQUEST... cd which does have the suite but I should have put the RCA Red Label edition of the Gerhardt suite. I will update with the New CE3K LP set when it comes out from LLL. I'm dying to have that set. Yeah!

  7. I doubt if it will have the OST Program replicated here because of the dialogue and songs which would be a licensing nightmare for Intrada. It could be more like the THE ROCKETEER sound mix treatment. The Film mix on disc 1 (and this time with Alternates and bonus cues) and the FYC Promo presentation on disc 2 as alluded to by OneBuckFilms in a few posts above. So let's see..

  8. Update from Doug Fake at Intrada:

Next week we’re back on course with our newest soundtrack CD release. More accurately, it’s a 2-CD set to a terrific score by an Oscar winning composer. In fact, the score itself was an Oscar nominee. Artwork, contents and sound samples will be available here to peruse this coming Monday. The release will be available on Tuesday, January 15.

I guess this settles it. Apollo 13 is a 2 CD set.
