    The only good thing we know is that the music exists well preserved. I'm in particular happy for Thor on the STORY OF A WOMAN. The RARE BREED is another holy grail of mine and perhaps when Williams is in a better mood we just might have him surrender to these.

    Shawn Murphy & team did mention in the youtube reddit video that they had to dig out all the available sources to prepare for the Vinyl restoration which mean that he had access to the original album masters which are the John Neal mixes. By the way better quality version of ROTJ tapes do exist and some important people do have access to them (for quite some time now). Cant say more

    I was thinking that since Shawn Murphy has gone back to the available original film mixes/tapes; it would be interesting to see a major jump in the sound quality for both EMPIRE and JEDI. Also I'm beginning to see this as a test if this passes the quality check then Disney would seriously consider going for a more complete/definitive restorations in the coming years as Episode 9 wraps up.

    Do you think Disney will have a heart and change the artwork before releasing it in May? I'm sure their art department have been scratching their heads because Sony had already done so many reissues with various likeable artwork that essentially robbed them of any more ideas. Im simply going to insert these new 3 disc's in the box set which Sony last did. (The way they should have done since the artwork and liner notes match the OST releases) Sony will have their last laugh. 😁

    What he is saying that they abandoned the LP Vinyl mixes and went back to the original film mixes and used that to re-edit and reconstruct the OST Program. Murphy had done similar take on the Music Videos that was done for Revenge of the Sith set. Those were very accurate film mixes of such tracks such as the THE ASTEROID FIELD which was botched on the 2CD RCA/Sony Special Edition sets. I'm definitely excited by this.

    The only good thing would to have OST of the original SW Trilogy OST programs on cd with a proper remaster etc. I still think this project began when Shawn Murphy and Pat Sullivan were assigned the Vinyl box set. I'am definitely getting the first 3! (i.e the original Trilogy)

    Yes terrific interview. Nicely recorded too. Lovely stories. Some interesting feelers on the RCA STAR WARS Special Edition sets. Some interesting points on how remastering process has changed in the last 10 years. I can understand how Matessino feels about revisiting certain projects he did back then. It would be quite amazing if SUPERMAN gets another take.
