pixie_twinkle 48
BrazilOooh, this is coming out soon! I didn't buy the 132-minute DVD already available, and it'll be great to get the full-length 142-minute European version on Blu. I have the Criterion DVD set, which is great except for some inexplicable reason the widescreen is non-anamorphic. Are most Criterion DVDs non-anamorphic? Seems at odds with their mission. filmmusic 1,843
yes, i know. I've seen it recently.it was quite good.. and the video/audio quality..by the way, quick question:has someone got the French E.T. steelbook?I wanted to confirm if it has Greek subtitles.bluray.com says it has, but sometimes it has errors in the descriptions.
JoeinAR 1,949
I don't recall any errors. Sometimes the information you want isn't there, that doesn't make it an error.
filmmusic 1,843
well, it's a kind of error, if the actual Bluray has something, and it doesn't say it.(or incomplete information, if you don't like the word "error")eg. In the UK Pillow Talk it didn't say that it has Greek subtitles (I think now they have corrected it), and I had to get the German digibook.had I known that it did have, I would have got the UK one, in which the digibook is in English (now I'm stuck with the German digibook, although I don't know any German)
filmmusic 1,843
I don't recall any errors. Sometimes the information you want isn't there, that doesn't make it an error.Someone replied to me that the French steelbook of E.T. does not have Greek subtitles (as described in bluray.com).Who's right and who's wrong? hmmm.. it seems i should do more detective work until I find out.. pixie_twinkle 48
Just watched OHMSS as part of my one-a-week chronological Bond Blu Ray viewing experience. Once again I am blown away by how wonderfully directed this film is. Even though I've seen this film countless times I still get choked up during the wedding scene (Moneypenny catching the hat) and the final scene of the film. It's simply a stunning film, and it looked and sounded fantastic on Blu. I was able to listen to this with the 5.1 stereo (I don't have a surround set-up, just my TV) and it sounded great (unlike Thunderball in which the music and sound effects were mixed much louder than the dialogue, frustratingly). I fully expect that it's more to do with the setup of our TV than any fault on the disc itself, but the mono was fine for Thunderball. Steef, I don't recall any issues with the Thunderball DVD, but I haven't watched it since we got this TV anyway.

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,265
The film is something of a catch 22. It would have been the best one if it had starred Connery. But if Connery would have starred, they would have never made the movie as faithful and as (relatively) grounded as it is.And true Bond films know, the film did in fact not flop at the box-office at all... pixie_twinkle 48
Good point about Connery. Neither he nor Moore (my two favourite Bonds for COMPLETELY different reasons) could have carried off some of the more emotional dialogue in the film (especially the closing scene). And yet Lazenby absolutely nails those scenes. Yes, I'm glad this was his only Bond outing, but I do think he is the perfect Bond actor for this film. Marian Schedenig 8,211
Does anyone know if any versions of the Bond 50 set include the uncut Casino Royale? Apparently, at least the US release has the censored cut (at least that's what Google told me).
Wycket 36
No, its still only available in Region 3. Honesty, its one of the things keeping me from buying the set as the Ultimate Editions already have nearly all the same extras and great quality. I'm still waiting for the original version of Casino to be released in the States. I just don't understand why its cut here.
Marian Schedenig 8,211
There are European standalone releases of CR with the uncensored cut. At least the Dutch and Scandinavian Deluxe Editions, as well as a newer pressing of the UK DE. But reports (or speculation, hard to tell with these Google results) seem to disagree whether for example the UK Bond 50 set also includes that version. Wycket 36
Yeah, I'm not sure about the UK cut ,though I vaguely remember reading that their were changes for their new release. The US unfortunately is still cut for whatever reason.
