why do I get the impression that Williams gets nominated, just because he is John Williams....

Perhaps because there was nothing particularly impressive about the 50 second Great Performances theme (*ducks*).

well it sounds like E.T. and obviously you like E.T.

they have never played the theme without a voiceover naming the sponsors so nobody knows what it really sounds like ,so i'm guessing it's the first 15 seconds that got the nomination

Why isn't Michael Giacchino nominated for Lost somewhere?

Yep, too bad he didn't score a nom. He should have been nominated for the Season 5 Finale scoring, imho.
