Melange 446
From what i've seen, these "Must have" threads always end up turning into "My personal favourites". So i've just picked one which i think most people here would agree is a must have of Williams no matter what else he has produced. It really is just a coincidence that its one of my favourites. I primarily chose this is as if someone wanted to hear Williams work and wanted an introduction. If i was to give anyone a CD to introduce them to Williams, it would be this. If the 2CD set you speak of is this one... Then I must say YES INDEED!!! This is easily Williams best re-release of a score. (Minus Raiders of course ) and you must get it. Now. Or else. Ray Barnsbury 8
I agree with everything that's been said here (if it's Williams, it's must-have), but I would like to add Home Alone. It is a wonderful, wonderful score, ecpecially for the Christmas season. Somewhere in my Memory and Star of Bethlehem are priceless holiday themes, and the rest of the score is just as good. Also, no one has mentioned The Patriot. I would consider this a must-have, but many would disagree. It all comes down to personal opinion of course. Another very nice compilation album is Williams on Williams: The Classic Spielberg scores.Ray Barnsbury

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,265
Ni it's not, you can easily do without scores like Lost In Space and Reivers.I'm not sure The Cowboys belongs to "basics" either. And scores like The poseidon adventure and The Towering inferno are hard to obtain, so i'd count them out. Besides, they are not that good.Stefancos- who knows JoeinAr is turning in his grave.

Towering Inferno is awesome. It was the score that should have won the academy award in 1975. But that went to the Godfather 2 lovefest. And the awfully derivative Nina Rota score. Boring.
