  1. It's a piece called Gavotte by François-Joseph Gossec. It's a standard of the Suzuki literature and Warner Bros cartoons. Why it's in the kid show or film beats me!
  2. My review of the album! http://musicbehindthescreen.blogspot.com/2020/07/quick-review-animal-crackers.html Enjoy and thanks for reading!
  3. Forgot to post this earlier. A New Hope with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra! Empire coming to town this Nov.
  4. Available now and listed on Hal Leonard's website: Men of the Yorktown (Midway) That's Entertainment (arr. Williams) Tribute to the Film Composer (2002 Oscar Medley) And of course the above-mentioned Rebellion is Reborn for preorder.
  5. Shostakovich’s monogram was the main theme of Brian Tyler’s The Mummy. Hard to unhear...
  6. Got it in the mailbox today. It's gorgeous looking....can't wait to dig in and listen!!
  7. The intermission break was in the perfect spot...the fade out with orchestra tag was just a bit odd in my opinion. On my night, my audience did indeed laugh and clap at the main titles. They also clapped after "bigger boat". Thankfully the people near me didn't leave until the end of the concert!
  8. Went to Chicago Symphony's performance last night. Obviously concert details are the same from Boston, with the added bits and odd break for intermission. The CSO is incredibly adept at their live film scores, and this was no exception.
  9. Put this together a while back: http://musicbehindthescreen.blogspot.com/2012/08/returning-track-titles-of-john-williams.html?m=1
  10. Just posted my album review at Music Behind the Screen. Enjoy! Check it out here: http://musicbehindthescreen.blogspot.com/2016/12/quick-review-fantastic-beasts-and-where.html
  11. Orchestrated by James Harbert. The same James Harbert that wrote the lyrics to Thomas and the King? Interesting if so...
  12. My take of the album: http://musicbehindthescreen.blogspot.com/2015/12/quick-review-star-wars-force-awakens.html
  13. One source music track (as far as we know) written by JJ and Lin-Manuel. I'm thrilled - Lin has the EGT in EGOT, Pulizer Prize finalist, MacArthur Genius grant and songs for the upcoming Disney film Moana. Sure it's not another Williams track, but it's not Jedi Rocks or The Force Awakens: DJ Tiesto Remix!
  14. So far the bonus discs of some of these releases have featured The Lost Chords. Originally digital releases of the demo and then new performance. The Legacy discs have just ported those over for Cinderella and Aristocats. But...there's also a Lost Chord release for The Rescuers and Peter Pan. Perhaps we'll see those expanded releases in the future?!
  15. Just got this email! A great release! - I look forward to add to my Omni collection!

  18. Based on those clips, I sure hope this gets a physical release! Speaking of, Tim Simonec composed a handful of the jazz charts played by the jazz band in Whiplash.
  19. Just so you know, many of these lists are publicly listed and notated in several academy libraries throughout the US (USC has many handwritten papers). You can see the exact cue titles and names on Omni Music releases. Also, Film Score Monthly and Intrada tend to include the cue assembly in many of their liner notes. No stealing necessary in so many cases.
  20. I just saw Chicago Symphony finish their trilogy this summer, although they did one a year. I can say with certainty that Ludwig Wicki has probably seen those movies than all of us combined!
  21. The Little Mermaid is also coming out in the Legacy Collection (same as the recent Lion King), with assumed more score and the songs included. Disney listed it for November 17, 2014.
  22. Glad he's going full circle in his career. Glad someone who appreciates JW's themes will be incorporating them!
