  1. My right ear enjoyed this video very much
  2. REST IN MUSIC, MAESTRO OZAWA. I still watch this video quite often:
  3. Well deserved award. Helena's Theme was best piece of film music I heard all year. Nobody else in this category came close. Very happy with this win.
  4. Very nice! However, my dream of seeing John Williams and Joe Hisaishi on the same ballot for the first and last time comes to a crashing end.
  5. @Marian Schedenig John Williams Temple of Music John Williams Chamber of Music John Williams Scoring House John Williams Igloo of Sound John Williams Music Hut John Williams Music-o'-Shack John Williams Casa del Sonido
  6. Here's a playlist of this concert. Not sure about the Spartacus track or Lawrence of Arabia suite or the Godfather suite.
  7. I listened to this score when it first released online during the summer. I remember thinking this was a very minimalist score for a film that was described as a very fantastical film on the level of Spirited Away or Howl's Moving Castle. After watching the film, I definitely enjoyed and understood the minimalism of the score more. However, I can't help but think that Hisaishi and Miyazaki could've easily went harder on the lyrical and thematic route. My favorite track from the OST is: That said, this score and film was just nominated for best original Score and best animated film at the Golden Globes. Congrats, Hisaishi and Miyazaki!
  8. The soundtrack in this game is actually not bad at all. Love the game too. It's not without the usual Bethesda flaws, but it's very enjoyable. Can't forget the other big game with another great OST. Ok game. Ok soundtrack. Shit company.
  9. In my younger years, I would've taken the bait and turned into a debate pervert here, but I'm just gonna let this one go cuz it's just not worth my time. This thread isn't large enough for two debate perverts to co-exist, much less one.
  10. Hisaishi's The Boy and The Heron follows in the same restrained footsteps of Williams' The Fabelmans. I've heard this was a deeply personal film, so it resulted in a deeply personal score requiring just a small ensemble of piano and strings, the same instrumentation found in his Piano Story albums. The three tracks titled "Ask Me Why" are the reoccurring melodic theme of the score and each iteration develops it a little more. I liked the theme, but it may not be enough for those suffering from HES(Hisaishi Earworm Syndrome) as this theme may not be as catchy as his previous works. If only there was a fully fleshed out fourth iteration of "Ask Me Why", I'd be very satisfied.
  11. I've made 5 different versions of the end credits suite and I think this is the final version. Featuring: -Excerpts of the Raider's March from end credits of all previous films -Excerpt from "To Morocco" -Excerpt from "Auction at Hotel L'Atlantique" -Excerpt from "To Athens" -Merged "Helena's Theme" and "Helena's Theme (For Violin and Orchestra)" -Transition from "Helena's Theme" to "Marion's Theme" to "Raider's March"
  12. @Quppayea, the french horns there weren't together. Not as tight as the other performances unfortunately.
  13. The score did it's job, and it excelled mostly at tension building and maintaining forward momentum. The presence of some strings in a few places reminds us of Jonny Greenwood or Carter Burwell, but the rest was just atmospheric sound design. Ludwig is definitely a talented musician, but atmospheric sound design scores are not interesting to me. Black Panther was the only score that I enjoyed from him. The way Oppenheimer was scored reminds me of how TV shows are scored. They don't have the budget for a real orchestra, so the score was more experimental, minimalistic and synthesized. My biased opinion is this film was a huge missed opportunity for a moving orchestral score that would stand the test of time. Otherwise this was an incredibly well written, acted, and edited film with an atmospheric score that works. Music as Written for the Film: 4/5 Music as Heard on album: 3.5/5
  14. I know Hisaishi's scores for the Ni no Kuni games weren't by Miyazaki, but the art was by Studio Ghibli and it would've been amazing to have those scores included here. They would've fit right in.
  15. Helena's Theme Rey's Theme Holdo's Resolve Archimedes Theme Jedi Steps Poe's Theme March of the Resistance Dear Basketball The Fathiers The Rise of Skywalker Honorable mentions: Auction At Hotel L’Atlantique, The Adventures of Han, Kylo Ren's Theme, Battle of Syracuse
  16. Just finished my screening of the movie. Highly entertaining movie. I liked it. Even though it was highly formulaic, it still got me engaged from start to finish. It's fun ride. The score on the other hand by Lorne Balfe was another generic Zimmer-esque RCP score with the loudest possible mix. Instrumentation was the usual loud percussion, loud brass, loud strings, and no woodwinds. All fortissimo and no pianissimo. It's a serviceable score that accompanies the film's never ending action well, but, like it's RCP brethren, nothing truly stands out. If I had to say one positive thing about the score, it'd be it's good at keeping the forward momentum going. Otherwise, not much else to say about the music other than it's just loud af. Quite a contrast from DoD.
  17. Ok, by popular demand, it's done. This is the longest end credits ever. These turning into The Indiana Jones Symphonic Poem. This edit was actually easier than the other ones I did. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Most cues ends quietly so it was easy to just paste in the next piece of music. Notes: -Raider's March was pieced together using end credit excerpts from all previous films. -Moved Prologue up. -Moved Helena's Theme towards the end. -Added Marion's Theme transition from Helena's Theme to Raider's March. 15:59
  18. Very good, i considered this, but the full theme already played so I didn't wanna reprise it again.....ok you know what? I'm gonna take another stab at it. I pride myself at sound editing and near seamless transitions. I'm gonna make a THIRD end credits suite(technically a fourth, I secretly created one that combined the ASM version of Helena's theme and the concert version, and it's a fantastic listening experience). BTW if any of you actually listened to my arrangements, I used parts of the Raider's March from all previous films. It's the end credits of end credits. I'll report back when I'm done.
  19. My second and final attempt at an end credits suite for this movie. I think I'm satisfied with this, even though I went way over on time. -Added excerpt from "Auction At Hotel L’Atlantique". -Added excerpt from "To Athens".
