Koray Savas 2,251
The Saturday lad in our place reckons Skyfall is "the shittest one" and that the Bond franchise "went downhill" after Die Another Day, which is "the best one".Words... cannot... #SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,265
Yeah! It's lost all artistic integrity. Gone were the days when the franchise delivered quality film making like The Man With The Golden Gun, Octopussy, and Die Another Day.

Koray Savas 2,251
Travolta villain roles are hilarious. He would have been good in something like Die Another Day where it's all just over-the-top shit. Not in a Mendes film.

Quintus 5,399
Sorry, I don't fall for that Deakins glossy modern flash. Skyfall was hardly remarkable from a visual standpoint. And I can't see the Broccolis going for his attractive cooly rustic Coens style either, sadly.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,265
Deakins glossy? What have you been smoking dude?Skyfall was hailed as being visually remarkable, if you remember. Not just be movie goers, but the industry as well. nightscape94 965
He's managed to work with Conrad Hall and Deakins so I would trust him to land a good DP.
Quintus 5,399
I don't remember it, no. The first two thirds of the film looked like any other high end action film to me; however I do admit the scenes at Skyfall itself were much more eye-catching.Overall Skyfall is a typically glossy visual, yes. It looks nice and expensive, but what I saw didn't enchant me or anything like that.No Country For Old Men is a better looking film imo.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,265
The scenes in Turkey were all second unit I believe and it shows.Scenes lauded for their visual style were the one in the Chinese skyscraper, Macau, Silva's island and naturally everything in Scotland. Quintus 5,399
Of those I recall the Chinese skyscraper, for its silhouette dance sequence. Which I attribute to Mendes' smart direction, not Deakins' photography.

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,265
Probably an homage. That episode shares a few similarities with Skyfall anyway. The hero presumed dead returns. An explosion of a Government building. The Underground being used in a terrorist plot.
Sharkissimo 1,973
Yes, SKYFALL had great cinematography. Plenty of striking compositions (especially the master shots, like the one Steef pointed out), and a masterful use of framing, lighting and depth of field.2345678910111213141516
